www.stormwrestling.com/ 072007.html A deal of swearing, so copy past yourself. Wow, I don't know if I've ever seen Storm that fired up. I'd put in WWE Current, but neither Mero or Storm are port of the current roster.

Funny, I just finished reading it and was on my way here to post it. Storm can be pretty funny when angry.

Bravo, Lance Storm. Marc Mero should be ashamed of himself.

I agree with Storm about the steroids, and the idea that less-talented guys on the juice like Mero took the spots of more talented guys is really powerful. But I am less convinced about the painklillers, because the wrestling schedules are excessive and athletes fall into painkiller tolerance over time because of the schedules they face. The difference is that for Olympians its every 4 years and for pro wrestlers is almost every day.

But that's just it, pain is different for different individuals. In my entire life I have never had a backache and for years was somewhat suspicious when people talked about this as something that kept them from work or even from anything but bedrest. I never get migraines, and we have quite a few people on these boards who get them bad enough to go to the doctor. If we were on a schedule that meant we went to a different airport every single day, some of us would handle that better than others, but the schedule would still be excessive.

I agree with Lance on this one. He never used steroids or pain pills and he's twice the worker that Mero is/was.

Bravo, Lance Storm. Marc Mero should be ashamed of himself. That wasn't really Storm's message. He believes Mero is coming from the right place but isn't taking responsibility for his own steroid use (and the example it set for other wrestlers). Storm's comments tend to be intelligent and rational, rather than the ad hominem attacks used by other wrestlers with blogs. I'm glad Storm didn't let WWE or the industry off the hook either.

The biggest problem with pain pills is with guys who come back from injury too early, or never take the time off they need at all.
They keep taking pills so they can mask the pain, and keep at it.
Guys like these are accidents waiting to happen. Pillman is a big example.

Deep down, Lance is right, and he covers his bases well; he's not indicting any one person, or saying one specific side of the argument is wrong. He's simply saying what it is: wrestling is a high pressure profession, with easy pitfalls, and the industry DOES have to own up to that, but subjecting yourself to drugs and harmful things like that, at the end of the day, IS a personal choice.
The only way wrestlings' problems will be fully solved is if those in charge AND the guys in the locker rooms both work to improve things.
