I've been pondering this all day, and still can't come up with a good answer. Why is it that when a majority of this board feels one way or another on a person or thing, its met with quite a bit of grief from the people of the other side?
For instance, if the majority of people here like WWE, then they are just "dumb WWE marks" or if they dislike TNA, they are "blind TNA haters", or if they like companys like ROH, they are "Internet smark fanboys". Or if any wrestler is liked, they all of a sudden become an "IWC posterboy" and are then pretty much written off by everyone else.

Because people hate what's droningly over-popular and when people basically repeat what they've been told about somethng being great.

Also, a lot of the times it seems like a mob mentality. Like when a few start hating something, everyone comes out of the woodwork and say they hate it as well. See: "Blind TNA Haters"

See: "Blind TNA Haters" Oh WCW-haters who bandwagon jump suddenly thinking that jsut because they read Death of WCW they know everything that went on behind the scenes. When you see people coming out of the wood-work to say they hate something and they don't have their opinion in their own words but rather the words of someone else, you have to think that's robotic bandwagon jumping. And also, people just hate smarks. Especially WWE fans.

well, all of us are smarks. And you can be a fan of WWE, and still be a smark.

That's true but some of the WWE fan section mostly believes they aren't really a smark if they aren't into ROH/Chikara/PWG/NOAH/etc., Actually all internet wrestling fans are considered smarks by the biz. Even the ones who type like this: 10dri3k iz teh esbh

Even the ones who type like this: 10dri3k iz teh esbh thats my definition, too. If you know all what goes on backstage(and I don't mean your average Joe 6-pack who says "That crap's fake!", but actually knows the whole booking process, etc) regardless of what promotion(s) you follow, then you're a smark.

If you have inside information on wrestling (like pretty much all internet wrestling fans have) and yet enjoy wrestling as a form of scripted entertainment, you're a smark.

Tell that to the fans who think they aren't because they don't "know the names of obscure Japanese wrestlers" because anything that isn't on WWE-TV is obscure.

A think part of it is that when you feel different than the majority does, you feel alone and go on the defensive to "protect" yourself and your opinion. You don't want to look stupid or make yourself somehow seem inferior so you do what you can to make others feel bad and elevate yourself.

And also because you do get attacked when your opinion isn't popular "You aren't pleased by the WWE product? Then you must be a know it all smark that thinks you're better because you know the names of obscure japanese wrestlers."

Well sometimes the attacks do seem warranted in reverse wrestling logic.
Like Khali, right now I prefer him over Batista holding the title, anyone else, I'd want Khali GONE. However there is this weird love for Khali, despite being a human peice of plywood. I just can't sit there and say Khali is entertaining or fun watching, and it really does bogle my mind how people DO see it. I comment, but it IS thier right to enjoy crappy wrestlers.
Similar with Abyss, people all seem to hate him because he's doing silly vignettes, not basing anything on his wrestling(which has stayed pretty much consistant). I really DO dislike the angle, but I still like him as a wrestler.
You know, after typing all that I think I gave a good example why opinions are bad....

It works on both sides. Like people who like Cena are called dumb marks and such, just like anyone who doesn't like WWE is mislabeled an elitist know-it-all.

Then I guess there are just people out there who hate majorities just for the sake of being different. There are probably people who would argue that breathing is overrated.

Bottom Line:
People hate diversity, and must take any opportunity to squash it, or at least prove their moral superiority.

It makes some people feel special to go against what they perceive to be popular opinions. Most people want to stand out from the crowd, and they'll often adopt unpopular views to do this. Then of course there are those with LEGITIMATE unpopular opinions. One can tell the difference between the two based on how they express said opinions. Since the pseudo-rebels are basically attention whores they'll spread their views in most threads to get others to notice them. People with legitimate unpopular opinions are not as predictable.
