Not really, Waylon Mercy is a very obscure reference for most wrestling fans. If they said he was Psycho Sid's boy, that'd be a little different.

When did the illusion that Sid was ever a big star get fostered? He was important for about 3 months in 1992. I didn't know that made a legend.

And has headlined Wrestlemania. No one said he was a legend but he was a hell of a lot more popular then Waylon Mercy.

Personally, I'd love it, but many probably don't remember what, to me, is the greatest "could have been and should have been" gimmick ever.

Sid was big in WWE and then a major player shortly before WCW folded. At the very least people would remember he was the guy that broke his leg. That's *some* name recognition.

Dude, I seriously doubt that the people watching WWF in 92 and WCW in 2001 are the same people watching WWE nowadays. I bet you could go into an arena WWE's running tonight and ask 100 people who Sid is and get at least 95 blank stares.

Considering FREAKING Hacksaw is over... i'm PRETTY sure Sid would still be over.
You're kidding yourself if you think Sid isn't a bigger name then Waylon Mercy.

Gonna have to disagree again, like another person said, Jim Duggan is over and he was barely relevant while in his prime. Heck, Vader got pops when he came back.

I would so mark for that. Danny Spivey has always been one of my favorites and I think his injury and forced retirement was as tragic as Magnum's or anybody else's. Would love to see him make a few cameos as Festus's Daddy. Especially since he's living in Fl. hint hint wrestlemania cameo.

If they were to go with a similar storyline, they'd bring out a Hogwin.
Hogwin? Whups. Henry O Godwinn.
