The purpose of this thread is to discuss the changes people bring up quite abit about ECW. You must answer point by point on whether you think its right, wrong, no different or pointless.
More time People have suggested that ECW be 1 hour and a half, two hours or even more.. Would more time really help ECW or hinder how viewing as there'd be too much wrestling each week?
More talent With a thin roster of only 11 superstars, the first point ties heavily to there being more talent added. Is adding talent really a quick fix to a lot of ECW's problems?
OVW As above. Should ECW be a development ground for green wrestlers? Should that truly be acceptable?
Add another belt Again, stems from the first point in my book, do we had time for another belt? Would there really be any difference between the champ and the tv belt as theres no clear step in talent ECW wise.
Extreme Rules We RARELY get an extreme rules match, is this acceptable? Do you think ratings would rise if hardcore(slightly at least) matches were put on weekly? Or are we just making it more likely that the plague of WWE injuries rises.
Could ECW ever be its own show Currently tapings are split with Smackdown, WWECW flopped upon arrival and couldnt draw crowds big enough to go on its own, do you think it will ever be able to be its own entity? Would splitting ECW from the WWE near entirely help it?
Discuss!

More Time: Well, ECW does better with its one hour than TNA does, so this isn't a problem
More Talent: Yes, because frankly the consistent attempts to make the crowd care about people that generate about as much heat as dry ice (Morrision, Miz) isn't working. Some bigger name talent could really help
OVW: Not green wrestlers per se, but wrestlers who are ready to go on TV and can be used in ECW as a way to get recognized early in their careers.
Add another belt: I think it'd make some of the midcard feuds more interesting, yes.
Extreme Rules: You could have matches with no rope-breaks or count-outs but weapon shots are illegal, which would basically make it extreme rules only without the higher chances of injury. At the same time I think PPV and ECW Title matches should be completely extreme rules.
Could ECW ever be its own show: It flopped because the WWE lost faith after Philidelphia crapped on the product. I think at this point it's too late to try and make it stand on its own.

I think the hour suits them fine, they don't have a Tag-Team
Division or ANY other titles for that matter.
A veteran or two would be nice. Kind of what they did when
Benoit was drafted to ECW.
Yes because if keeps the show fresh.
I'm kinda up in the air about the 2nd title being added.
Yeah they should have at 1, to suit guys like Balls Mahoney
and Tommy Dreamer.
Now when ECW was first brought back, it could have. Now
it's just like, basically, Sunday Night Heat.

Nice thread.
More time: No. You can do a lot in an hour.
More talent. Maybe. See next point.
OVW: This in my opinion is the biggest problem. It's great to have a platform for new talent. But you need established names to draw and put the new talent over. They used to have Angle. They used to have RVD. They almost had Benoit. They need at least one established name.
Another belt: Maybe. I don't think a random midcard belt would make sense (e.g. Television title). Tag team belts could make sense - but then again there are already two tag titles and it gets confusing. Cruiserweight would be a good fit for the show; and the cruiserweights aren't doing much on Smackdown anyway.
Extreme rules: Yes. This would help.
Own show: If they did this at the beginning and were content to keep it in the Northeast and Midwest primarily it could have worked. At this point I don't know.

More time: naah, like others have said, it's doing better then TNA with one hour, so it's fine with time. More Talent: absolutly, while I have my own ideas about what to do with ECW booking wise, that's not what this topic is about. It garners no interest to see the same 5 matches every night. OVW: Even beyond that, with all the independant promotions out there, you mean to tell me that 10 wreslters and Big Daddy V are all that's out there? Branch out, dig deep, the superstars are out there. Looking for a new storyline for CM Punk, two words, Colt Cobana.
I think the other questions could be addressed once the roster was bolstered a little bit more.

More time
ECW is fine with one hour. It's a very well-handled show and there is no need to bring on the stress of working another hour into it.
More talent
More talent please. One estaslished stars and some of the "ready" OVW/FCW talent.
The problem with getting an established star is ego. Look at Booker threatening to quit if he went to ECW. That made me lose some respect for him.
On the other hand, young talent could fill the roster out a bit. Mike Knox's partner needs to be brought up. Colt Cabana would be nice to see on TV. I hear that Sean Spears is good. I mean, ECW is a good place to introduce new talent.
OVW
Not "green" wrestlers, but the ones deemed ready from a wrestling stand-point, but the 'E' is worried about breaking or they want to introduce them slowly.
Add another belt
I'd like for there to be another belt. I'd also like Kevin Thorn to be the one to win it. That's just me though.
Extreme Rules
I understand not using Extreme Rules matches all the time. It makes sense because they don't want to desensitize people to the violence. Like with TNA who had Abyss use thumbtacks so much that they have to resort to "glass" now to get a big reaction.
I do agree that there should be at least one a month. It depends on the aspect of the feud, though.
It would make sense for Balls Mahoney to get Miz into an Extreme Rules match so that he could use his experience (or should I say Chair.) against him.
So, yes, they need more extreme rules matches, but matches that make sense and aren't just thrown on the show for "Extreme Rules! Weapons!" style reactions
Could ECW ever be its own show
I don't think it would help that much. Although, it would be nice if they took advantage of Smackdown/ECW tapings by having crossovers.
ECW isn't big enough now to go on it's own. Maybe in a year or two if it continues to improve.

heres what i would do, guarantee this would get ratings to the 2.0 range
1- film separately in small arenas, (1500-2500 seats), to save money film 2 one hour shows in one night. This would give u a lively crowd and an ECW style intimate setting.
2. Increase the roster- but not too much since its a one hour show and u want to give guys room to shine, id say 15-16 is a good number. Here is what i would do with the roster.
Get rid of Big Daddy V,Nunzio, Matt Striker and Boogeyman
Add- Cabana, Shawn Spears, Burchill, Kofi Kingston from OVW/FCW
Add- Matt Hardy,Super Crazy, Shelton and Carlito from the main rosters since they are being underutilized.
3- Add a TV title, with 16 guys u can add another belt, another belt gives u more room as far as angles and keeps ECW title matches fresh.
4- More HARDCORE, with the Benoit situation u definitely cant go back to ol ECW style but one good extreme rules match a week woudl guarantee another 200 to 300,000 viewers a week IMO, and it would bring a lot of old ECW heads back as well.Lets face it people love a good brawl.
5- add one big name ECW OG, my choice is either Raven or the Bubba Ray Dudley, they have never had a heel ECW original, i would love to see Raven come in and be the heel version of Dreamer.
6- eventual turn Punk, heel Punk is 100x more lethal and interesting it has to happen

More time - Maybe I do think more time would allow ECW to better develop its characters and to put on longer better matches. Promos are very important in getting a character over (especially for people who are good on the mic like Elijah Burke and, supposedly, CM Punk). Two hours might be a little long since a fair amount of the Extremists are monsters like BDV and The Boogeyman (who generally don't talk/have a mouthpiece talk for them and have squashes), so maybe reorganizing time so that at least one of Punk/Burke/Morrison/Striker get a chance to do a promo each week. More talent - Depends I would say more established talent, at least in the short term to generate more interest in the product. Obviously, having someone like Matt Hardy come in and win the title (or at least challenge for it) would mean that some of the ECW main eventers get knocked down a bit, a mega-over star could help one of those ECW main eventers get more over and then he in turn can get over someone else, etc. If it's simply putting the Chris Masters of the world on the show, then no. If it's all of the Cruisers, maybe. OVW - Some I don't think it's a bad idea to have some of the talent be up-and-comers, just to give them a taste of what it would be like to be on Raw or Smackdown. Given that each week generally has 3 or 4 matches, maybe one match featuring OVW talent would be OK. Add another belt - Depends If it's the Cruisers, OK. If it's the return of the Hardcore title (with actual hardcore matches), fine. It might add a little more interest to the Knox-Thorn matches if they were fighting over the TV title, but that would just seem to devalue championships in general. Extreme Rules - Yes Safety is an important concern, but ECW's heritage is that of extreme/Hardcore matches. I'm not saying go completely crazy, but ECW needs some sort of identity. Could ECW ever be its own show - Depends If it remains WWE-lite, then there's no real reason to have it have its own tapings. If it got a new identity (I'll try and harp on that point some more ) and did shows in more intimate venues, it might help distinguish it from Smackdown.

More time I would like to see it two hours, but I completely understand the sentiment about it being only one and how that is positive espc taking current roster size into consideration. Until other matters are addressed an hour is fine. A bigger problem is that its on SciFi and while it gets pushed via the other Viacom stations (USA) its not a very visible cable network to a lot of people. Theres lots of stupids out there. It would be much better suited to being on USA.
More talent Adding talent is not a quick fix unless its talented talent. The main problem I see with ECWWE is that its not its own brand at all. Smackdown/Raw are kind of interchangable regardless of the name and roster, ECW should be more of a seperate entity.
OVW Absolutely not, OVW is regionalized for a reason. I think for some up and comers it'd be a good place to start out, but to make a "developmental" fed would be a fallacy.
Add another belt At this moment, maybe one other belt but with only 11 wrestlers at this time, another belt waters the show down IMO.
Extreme Rules There should be at least one per show. It needs something to make it standout on its own and be different from the flagship WWE shows.
Could ECW ever be its own show Until it is defined and the talent roster is strong enough to carry it, no. At this moment, it cannot be simply because of the size of the roster and the limitations that brings about.

Extreme Rules?
While I love them, do you REALLY think it's wise to bring them back in the now steroids/painkiller scandaled WWE?

one a show wont hurt, esepcially if u always use different guys and not every extreme rules match has to have a chair shot to the head.

Painkillers are in every sport, and they'll always be in wrestling regardless of match type. They're hardly the reason there is such a fuss going on in the mainstream media about wrestling.

Did someone just say move Matt Hardy to ECW? For the reason that he is 'being underutilized? Have I entered the twighlight zone? A pleasant faced man steps up to greet you He smiles and says hes pleased to meet you Beneath his hat the strangeness lies Take it off, hes got three eyes Truth is false and logic lost Now the fourth dimension is crossed
You have entered the twilight zone Beyond this world strange things are known Use the key, unlock the door See what your fate might have in store Come explore your dreams creation Enter this world of imagination
Wake up lost in an empty town Wondering why no one else is around Look up to see a giant boy Youve just become his brand new toy No escape, no place to hide Here where time and space collide

For a guy with his popularity and his talent level to have never held a title higher than the european championship id say yeah hes been misused.
Not to mention ECW needs an upper card face other than Punk in the worst way possible, Hardy as ECW champ would be nice.

It would, though right now i'd say his misuse has ended given his feud with MVP that hopefully will result in him finally getting his first midcard title.

More time nah, i think an hour is just fine, especially with the thin roster. just about everyone gets a match every week the way it is now. although, if they did get an extra hour or so, they could have longer matches that fit the old ECW style better.
More talent maybe a few extra, but only to balance out the heel/face numbers. there are about four faces on the whole show, and there realy should be some roster depth.
OVW no. ecw needs to be a finished, professional product. OVW is very entertaining, but it is not ready for international TV exposure. this would put too much pressure on the wrestlers who aren't ready yet. OVW is where good wrestlers go to learn how to be great. they should not be "learning" on live television.
Add another belt no. ECW has a fairly thin roster, and also, i like the fact that the whole show revolves around the world title. everyone is jockeying for position, it seems, even in "grudge" type feuds like balls/miz, and that's the way it should be.
Extreme Rules every match should be extreme rules. don't have evry match be a bloodbath, hell, have not so much as a chairshot in most matches, but just open up the possibilities, and add something different. the whole idea of the new ecw was that it was gonna be an alternative to raw or smackdown, and this, coupled with the unique world title picture.
Could ECW ever be its own show yeah. i say they should have it like the old "shotgun saturday" shows, with the shows in really obscure venues. again, it would add something unique to the product, and the extreme rules matches that would go into the crowd would be alot better in, say, a nightclub than an arena, which is fairly limited.
but by and large keep it as it is. i lvoe ecw at the moment, it's probably my favourite show, but it could do with sometweakig. but just remember: it could be alot worse.

To improve ECW, I think it's just a bigger roster that's needed really.
The Miz is a good heel. Morrison is an interesting character. Burke could be a good character in the future. Balls has a good story going. ECW has some good characters, as well as an interesting monster in Big Daddy V, who is one of the more charismatic and ring-able big men around.
They have interesting characters, and good potential in a lot of guys. What they need though, is to add maybe one more face to the brand. Reason being, the guys that are looking for better crowd reactions, like the Miz and Burke (I won't include Morrison as his last title match showed the crowd was into the feud) but they are never going to get over with live crowds as they haven't got an already established face to 'make their lives a living hell' if you get what I mean. Only one person can really feud with Punk at a time, so he's taken. If they took a risk and added an over, established face like Benoit was to the brand it would really help. Then the heels can play off the heat he would generate, and the show would have more star power.
The Miz isn't going to generate that much heat off of Balls. He gets a bit, but since Balls was never that big to the mainstream audience he isn't going to get the Miz that much heat. Dreamer never got past the mid card in WWE, so he isn't going to get Burke and Thorn that much heat. If they was feuding with Jericho, for example, the crowd would want to boo them more, because they are opposing an over face.
Benoit was the perfect choice for the brand. Angle would be perfect for it now. As would Jericho even though he will go to Raw or Smackdown, probably rightly.
It's just hit me. If ECW get RVD back, it will improve. You then have the potential for Punk/RVD matches, RVD/Morrison, and you actually have a half decent main event (relative to ECW) pool of talent. Punk, RVD, Morrison would all be established, Burke could take some of that heat, as could the Miz, as could Striker/BDV.
Right now though, Punk is the only over face. He can only get over one heel as a result. One more though. and you have the potential for many more connotations in ECW.

More time ECW form a wrestling point has put up some of the best matches you can see on TV. The main probleam they have is with SCI Fi love for playing ads non stop and because of that ECW showns have been a big mess and hard to watch. ECW could go two hours but ECW need to get off the ground and WWE need to push the shown more that what they are doing right now
More talent I think the idea of WWE using ECW as nothing than development ground for RAW and Smackdown need to stop and everytime WWE fired someone they go first to ECW roster and fired some of good wrestlers why they keep Kelly Kelly. WWE could move some talnets form Raw and Smackdown who are not being use right like Raw(The Highlanders,Supercrazy,Val Venis,Daivari ,Charlie Haas and Teg team of Brian Kendrick and Paul London) and Smackdown (Chavo Guerrero,Gregory Helms ,Kenny Dykstra ,Kane and Dave Taylor ) to help put the brand on the right road .
Could ECW ever be its own show
ECW could come into it own if the WWE push it just right but one thing they need to do is push the wrestlers who are the selling point of the shown like Raw has John Cena and Triple H and smackdown has Batista ,Undertarker and Rey Mysterio . ECW could use CM Punk and other wrestlers like Elijah Burke as there selling point. An other idea the WWE had when they buy out WCW was to have it own small Fed and have Shane McMahon run it but WWE never use that idea. With the WWE in talks with Mark Cuban about starting a mixed martial art's company why not give control of ECW and part control of the mixed martial art's company to Shane McMahon. Like with the WCW idea Shane McMahon would have full control over ECW and he can hired anyone he want for ECW like wrestlers and peoples to help run it. WWE than could push it for the world wide fan based they been wanting to do
Booking style they use for it would be a mix of WWF shotgun Saturday night and WCW saturday night with good old school wrestling and no fear of pushing the limts
