I heard he had a dark match with Owen Hart in the Spring of 1999.

"He's the only Gold Medallist in WWF history, King. That's a fact! That's the way it is." Was JR spouting off the smae comments about Mark Henry a few years prior? And did anyone else hear Lawler make a tasteless & uncalled for jibe at Muhammad Ali? "I doubt he can remember many things these days." Nice

I think its funny how that match was basically the same as most typical matches we get today, but JR said how it was a style you rarely see in the WWF. My how the times have changed.

I saw him do a Dark Match against Stevie Richards (Dressed as Dude Love) in the Nassau Colliseum about a month before this. Angle wore trunks instead of a singlet.

Wrestling has made great strides since Attitude times, where, let's be honest, a lot of brawling and coasting on charisma was feautured in most matches.

I find this funny given the fact that most of those fans would later love the guy to a degree where they'd drink a jar of his urine if he asked them to

I've always had massive respect for Angle after this match. I hope every single oen of those fans felt like idiots when they realised what a talent he was, and saw him shoot up the ranks within the WWF. No, I don't see why they should, the guy was a heel and they were booing him, nothing wrong with that at all. It's not as if they knew Kurt was going to be as good as he was. Within how long of the match starting were they shouting 'boring?' Booing is all well and good, even though I believe they didn't want Angle to be total heel, and wanted to check the reactions of the crowd first. I say this because it is JR who is talking him up first, and he always talks up the face. Stasiak also puts him in a few sleepers to 'get the crowd behind him' as a heel would do. However once it became clear the crowd were booing him it seemed to change mid match. King started talking up Angle, JR defending Stasiak, and Angle got on the mic and began his goofy arrogant schtick. I don't know why I just went on that rant to be honest, because the fact still stands that if you chant boring when a match is barely a minute in, there is something wrong with it. It's not booing a heel, it's just giving a wrestler a chance.

I'd love to see him wear that ring attire again, i'm not a fan of his current gear at all. Angle's just not Angle without the red, white and blue and that music.

It's not booing a heel, it's just giving a wrestler a chance. if you watch the promos leading up to his debut he was a total anti-heel. In the sense that Austin was a hero for being the anti-hero. He talked up about how great he was and the end of the video would say "The most celebrated REAL athlete in the WWF". He was supposed to be the opposite of The Rock, DX and Austin types which makes him a heel in this era also add in his cockyness. I thought it was the best way to bring in a heel and it worked out well for him.

You know, screaming "Boring" within ten seconds of the match starting means you're probably inbred. No kidding, there had been like 2 moves done so far.

What do those fans know? They started chanting boring literally two moves into the match. I don't exactly call that a fair shake!

i remember watching this with my oldest brother and his friends, and we all thought "wow...thats it? his finisher is extremely weak." Funny how things change and stay the same at the same time No doubt the Angle slam is a strong move.... But it was never used as a finisher after he started using the ankle lock. One of the few moves which got super strong and then weak just because of another move (ankle lock)
