From WWE.com: TAMPA, Fla. – SmackDown Superstar Matt Hardy underwent an emergency appendectomy at a Tampa area hospital tonight. Doctors expect the surgery to keep Hardy out of action anywhere from 1-3 months. An appendectomy by definition is the removal of the appendix from the lower right area of the abdomen. Oftentimes, if the surgery is not performed immediately, severe consequences can follow. Hardy’s emergency surgery comes less than a week after suffering a knee injury at the hands of his former partner, the United States Champion MVP. Did the attack by MVP help lead to the appendectomy that Hardy underwent tonight? Stay tuned to WWE.com for updates on Matt Hardy’s condition. www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/articles/4748330/hardyundergoessurgeryIkes! If this is a work, they're realling going overboard!

I'm not sure how a knee injury could cause an appendectomy. I had an emergency appendectomy and I was litterally doing nothing. I was snoozing on the couch watching a movie and I was suddenly awaken by unbearable stomach pain. It was one of those freak things...there was no direct cause. It just happened.

I wish Matt the best. This feud with MVP may never end with their combined health issues.

If this is a work, it's really bizarre. An appendectomy doesn't really put a guy over as tough or whatever; it's just a freak thing. It's one step above him being out of action due to catching chicken pox.

I wish Matt the best. This feud with MVP may never end with their combined health issues. At this rate, it might end up being the longest running feud on TV besides Peter Griffin vs. The Giant Chicken.

This sucks for Matt, it really does. I keep hoping and wishing and when he's this close to something awesome like a US title match and eventual win, to have this taking away like that is heartbreaking. He'll be back by WM and he better get the US Title, I'll be so happy when he does.

Well, it could have been discovered while he was in for the knee injury. Remember Matt Cappotelli? Went in for a concussion, and they found a brain tumor, saved his life. So I wouldn't just call it a work just yet.

My sense is that it's legit. It's too random a health issue to be a work. As others have said, an appendectomy doesn't exactly put a guy over as tough. I don't think that this feud will ever end with their health issues.
