I marked out even though I knew it was coming (but was really hoping they'd surprise us and bring out Sid or Colt Cabana).... and even though the vest, hair and chain were pretty fruity. Was anybody else hoping HBK would come out in his Skinner outfit and superkick him? EDIT: BTW, I just got home in time for the last 5 minutes, so don't jump all over me for not knowing if HBK went out on a stretcher earlier

Why are people saying he got a small pop? I've watched it 3 times now and it was huge and continued on for 3/2 straight minutes of just applause and standing ovations. If you want to hear a big pop, watch this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFX7_4uTqhI

I wasn't a fan of them showing him knock the torch runner down. I just wanted the interuption right away QFT. It's like when Eric Bischoff debuted; instead of the shock of seeing him walk out onto the stage, the first time we see him is walking backstage -- just so Booker could get in his "tell me I did not just see that" catchphrase. Then Eric walks out to no pop because everyone already knows he's there. (Instead, they could've had Booker watching on a monitor and score his catchphrase after Eric's intro segment.) I'm a huge Jericho mark (almost as much as I'm a Mark4HBK ) and I loved the segment, but I think giving away the "surprise" (which we all knew was coming) still took a little bit away from it.

Did anyone else see Y2J's hair, know it was Y2J, but had a feeling like we were just MAYBE being swerved for a moment? I did.

you know. I haven't marked like that in a long time. where you just get chills and you start to laugh and are just overjoyed. That's basically word for word exactly what I did.

I'm in the same boat here too. He's been doing the same catchphrases since 1999. I too liked it until he began talking and going on about blue balls and that. Yeah me too...It was just anti-climactic. I was never a huge jericho fan to begin with. I like him, but I didn't freak out when all this Save Us thing started. If he's thrown in to a World Title feud within the next month I'm gonna be very unhappy Why? Who else is there? Maybe Jeff Hardy, I guess. I mean HBK had his shot, and heaven help us if we have to go through another Triple H title run. Jericho's at least a fresh challenger. I want something different on top in WWE. This is different. I couldn't be happier. Now if Orton just pins Jericho at Armageddon? That's another story. They should ride this thing out to Wrestlemania in my opinion. Let HBK and Triple H work the upper midcard for the next few months. We've seen enough of them on top for a while.

I have a feeling we have our Wrestlemania main event with Orton vs Jericho.

It was a good feeling to mark out to a truly big moment.
They don't happen often in WWE much these days.

Someone said they see this as th WMania main event...how could they drag it out that long? If anything I'm guessing Jericho (champ) versuses the Rumble winner, a returning John Cena.

John's out till at least past WrestleMania with his injury. Really? Then I don't think we will get a one on one match for the RAW title....maybe like Jericho vs. Orton vs. HBK vs. HHH

At first I tried to compare this to his original debut and couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Something felt off about it. Then I realized what it was. It's the fact that comparing this debut to his original debut is comparing apples and oranges.
1. When Jericho in 1999 he was a heel. He didn't have to play to the crowd or smile. He just ripped into everyone and everything. This is the internet, with very few exceptions heels>faces here. I see people "comparing the pops" between debuts but that is crazy. Sure the crowd popped for him at first in 1999, but don't forget there was a "Rocky" chant not long after.
2. When Jericho debuted in 1999 he was an ex-WCW midcarder whose role and character were very much up in the air upon entrance into the WWE. Tonight he re-debuted as someone very familiar to WWE fans as an ex-champion, a charismatic guy, and someone who is now seen as a WWE guy and not an outsider.
3. In 1999, wrestling ratings and overall popularity were a bit better during that time period. That was "the Monday Night Wars" and a lot of things the WWE did during that time period is remembered much more fondly in hindsight than what the WWE does now. That crowd in Chicago may have been louder initially simply because there were more fans in attendance.
Overall, I was impressed. It may not have been exactly like his first debut, but things change. Bottom line is that he has a ton of fan support and momentum coming in, and I can't wait until he goes after Orton's title. A face Jericho title run in something we haven't seen yet. I can't wait for it.

I just dont want him to win it at Armageddon after spending the last 2 years making snarky quips on VH1. That would totally devalue the title. I don't know why people are marking so hard. It was evident for the past 2 months that he was coming back as the Save Us. IDK maybe I shouldn't complain, its something new I guess
