Only in TNA can you be "disqualified" for being counted out of the ring. Horrible.

What is it exactly that is awesome about New Jack?
He seems to have this cult following and I don't get it. Admittedly I have little experience seeing him in the ring...I used to watch him in ECW and of course the famous Mass Transit match...but he hasn't been around forever, and when he was, he seemed to be a garbage wrestler who relied on weapons. He never stood out to me at all.
What makes him so great?

Please. Cena was never in ROH. They're being facetious, because Chris Masters wasn't either. No kidding. Thanks.

I was kidding about Masters...just trying to lighten the mood...and yeah MVP did wrestle in ROH.
I don't have any proof, but I wouldn't be surprised if Vince does have some kind of working relationship with ROH. They seem to respect him and he seems to respect them vs. TNA who is like the always obsessing middle child.

I am really starting to like ROH. I like the Briscoe Brothers and all the guys in the E who came from ROH (MVP, Punk, Chris Masters) I really like...so I'm trying to get some tapes... Here is a post from a friend of mine that came from a discussion as whether or not ROH will or has already surpassed TNA as the second strongest wrestling promotion in the US. What do you guys think? It's crazy...eventually however the economic reality will probably strike. It's why I think ROH may be the #2 company in the US for wrestling soon if not already. ROH and TNA are apples and oranges. The former is operates like a real life business. They are not a competitor in any sense to WWE and have gone out of their way to be respectful and cooperative toward VKM. In turn Vince has reciprocated. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that Vince gives them a supplement similar to how he helped out Heyman and Cornette's old ECW and SMW promotions. I'd honestly be surprised if he wasn't throwing them a bone. I remember friends of mine telling me about ROH back in 2002 and how it was the 'new practical business model' for US Indy pro wres going forward. Since then many have tried...but few have replicated their ROI. Feinstein started the promotion to service the market he used to sell ECW videos to (before they went under). It really helped out that they already had a committed market in place buying recurring shows through RF Video...and to his credit he was frugal and built slowly and steadily. Since taking over Cary Silkin has done well...they even have revenue coming in from TV deals and have run smartly targeted overseas tours. Running low cost taped PPVs will hopefully break-even or maybe even put them in the green a bit...while ideally doubling as an infomercial for an expanded audience that buys into the tape library that's their bread and butter. It doesn't take much. Japanese pro wres garbage promotions have been able to successfully use this model for moderate growth. LWPD (unlike with the case of TNA...ROH has had realistic ambitions and has followed a business plan that makes sense...the people who run the company 'know their place' in the market and are comfortable with it...they don't 'compete' they co-exist and are very respectful of WWE...it's the polar opposite of the failed TNA money pit philosophy)Swarm

I will be shocked out of my boxers this match goes down. When I first read it I thought it was a MMA fight...but even as a wrestling match I'm not buying it...I'd love to see it...I just don't buy it.

Steiner undergoing surgery today
by Dave Meltzer
Dave@wrestlingobserver.com
Scott Steiner was scheduled to undergo surgery on his trachea today in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Steiner was injured yesterday in taking a kick to the throat from Apolo in a tag team match where Steiner & Robert Roode faced Jeff Jarrett & Apolo. He seemed fine after the match, but at 2 a.m., was having trouble breathing and was rushed to the hospital.
There was no estimate until after surgery is completed regarding how long Steiner would be out of action, but the preliminary word was that he's not expected back in the ring for a while.
Steiner had just started teaming with brother Rick for a few matches against Team 3-D, including at the 6/17 Slammiversary PPV.

No offense, but if one doesn't watch a show whole-heartedly (muted, low volume, part of the show etc) then when you give a point, positive or negative, it doesn't have much credability. Strong.

I buy or split costs on all of them. I am an MMA fighter outside of work so I really like the shows. I'm really into it.

Yes it is and amazing post. The first show I ever saw was WM 1 and I was 8 years old.
It used to be you there was no wrestlecrap.com or IWC or Wrestling Observer newsletter...you just got up on Saturday morning and watched an hours worth of squash matches on Wrestling Superstars then later that night at 6:05pm you'd turn on TBS and watch another hour of squash matches from the NWA...
the net was PWI magazine and any other mags you could find when you rode your bike 2 miles up to the party store after school...you had to wait four months for a match that meant anything (PPV) and that happened four times a year...that's how we followed wrestling back then and we loved it.
So now twenty some years later where we get Live Raw shows with stacked cards, SD once a week, ECW once a week 12-16 PPV's a year...more wrestling than as a kid I would have known what to do with it, I don't b*tch about it...I don't analyze it and dissect it...I don't complain about work rate or over coming the odds...
I just watch it. And I sit back and appreciate that this thing called "wrestling" I grew up on and loved so much as kid and be happy that it, wrestling, thanks to Vince McMahon "Over came the odds" years ago and we have what we have today...
Do I love it all? Of course not. But it's wrestling and it's awesome.
Great post.
