Ah yes, that well known indy darling Aiden English. Who doesn't think back with fond memories to his matches in... *googles* Chicago Style Wrestling in 2011 as Matt Marquee? He's as homegrown as it gets. Gotch has a lot more indy experience, but he's got over in NXT because of how he commits to the character and how great the gimmick is, not because of the associations a Devitt/Balor or Generico/Zayn gets. And that's less about homegrowns as it is about whether the cream should rise to the top. Blake and Murphy aren't indy darlings, either, but they're wrestling tag title matches without people complaining. On the contrary, people have hated the Blake and Murphy push since it started, in large part BECAUSE they're homegrowns and not super-indy guys. If anything, Blake and Murphy were Patient Zero for this changeover, since they're the NXT regulars who made their debut in the regular rotation in 2015, after this changeover from "Developmental show" to "WWE's in-house super-indy" took place. All the other big NXT homegrown heroes people use as proof otherwise debuted in 2012-early 2014, before NXT went to the Network and long before the changeover took place, giving them plenty of time to make their own name and get respected before this happened. By contrast, the people debuting since it's happened? Universally get maligned from the starting point due to not being indy darlings, with only Carmella having that arguable gray area of "was it her not being an indy darling, or was it that she was very green in the beginning?" argument (since Blake and Murphy have at least been solid performers since getting the big push.) I think a major point being missed is this. Homegrown talent like Blake/Murphy have talent in the ring. They are good at what they do, which is why they deserved a promotion. Dana, Carmella, etc are still getting they're wrestling down, but they are not only getting better at a faster rate, but they have personality that makes them worth watching. Eva hamfistedly rolls around the ring and acts like a stiff mannaquin when she does it, as evidenced in her wooden promos and monotonely screaming Carmella's catchphrase over and over.

And yeah, Billie, Emma, Peyton, Athena, Asuka etc wrestled in Shimmer, the home of the best women wrestlers on the planet, so they do kind of rock. They should be fightng for the title, not because they are from Shimmer but because they are already at Bayley's level. Beautifully put.

Agreed. Just because it's developmental doesn't mean everyone's equal. The titles should be passed amongst the best in the group. Looking at it like any other school, just because Eva's in the school doesn't mean she gets to be on the honor role. This is Eva. Even then, it's the same point- BECAUSE it's developmental and everyone's not equal means that even if you pass the titles among the best in the group, you still need to mix up the divisions possible so that everyone on the roster, best AND worst, get the same chances to develop and improve. NXT's biggest flaw right now is that they don't really mix up the divisions, and even lines like "you'd be cool with *scoff* BARON CORBIN winning the NXT Title from Finn?" comment is an example of the problem- on paper, Corbin SHOULD be getting matches with Finn for the title. just like Eva Marie (and Dana/Alexa/Carmella, for the same point) SHOULD have been getting more matches with Bayley or the Horsewomen for the NXT Women's Title months ago- because that's the best way for them to improve (and that DOES work to increase the standards- Corbin's match with Samoa Joe proved he has the chops more than another "Corbin fights anonymous Performance Center trainee, hits End of Days, repeat it again next week" ever could have.) Whether or not Eva should BE NXT Women's Champion, she should absolutely be FIGHTING Bayley for the NXT Women's Championship just to try and improve. Unfortunately, even now the fans' reaction, even in this thread is more "Just throw Jessie McKay (NOT! Billie Kay!), KC Cassidy (NOT! Peyton Royce), and Athena/Nikki Storm/Cat Power at Bayley because they worked SHIMMER so they r0xx0rz!" than that in the best-case scenario. Worst case scenario? Even if Mick Foley was right a couple weeks ago when he said "One day in the next year- even if it's a total carry job, Eva Marie will be in a really good match", I'd assume the fans would STILL say that theoretical good match was terrible just because the fans have already decided Eva Marie is history's greatest monster in pro wrestling and they won't LET her have good matches to her name, even if she does. First I'll say that I have no problem with Corbin in the main. He serves his purpose as a huge intimidating hoss. In developmental, there are lots of people as godd as her, if not better, who only appear on TV once, if at all, but fight in untelevised live shows and do LOTS of training at the performance center. That is what those things are for. Eva, however, is wanted by higher ups on TV so she's bypassing normal training. Have her in the gym. Have her under Sarita and SDRs learning tree. Have her fight everyone from Carmella to Bayley in live shows to get lots of varied experience. Should Eva have the belt, no. And my point is that Eva isn't good enough for a main event run and a program with Bayley. She can fight Bayley or anyone else, but our intelligence should be insult with the idea that Eva is on par with Bayley. The fact is that the TV show for NXT should mostly highlight people in the upper ranks of training and give them that next level of training, which Eva has bypassed. A match with Bayley would be terrible and make Bayley look bad. A Takeover, top match should not have Bayley forced to slow down her style and sell for sloppy, simple, and botched moves, especially after we've seen her fight Charlotte and Sasha. Let them fight in live events. Let them fight in one offs where Eva can be the enhancement talent. But an actual main event ptogram against Bayley would be painful to watch.

He was NOT in The Big Goodbye, I dispute this sticker! Yeah, I saw that and thought "Encounter at Farpoint" would have been most accurate.

I'm a fan of D'von, but it's obvious Bubba's the better guy in the Dudley Boyz. Do you think in current WWE he could swing a successful Bully Ray type solo run? I'd like to see him as a strong player in the upper midcards. Admittedly, I've seen about 2 months total of TNA, but he seemed to have done well there. Unless WWE just sees the Dudleyz as a temporary tag attraction only.

Just purchased the digital version on PS4. Because I'm West Coast, it unlocks at 9pm the Monday before release. Just a heads up to any other sad losers like me who care about that extra 3 hours. Aw man... if I wasn't a fan of physical media this would be the way to go. I word 3rd shift and I'm off Monday nights. As it is, my copy won't come in the mail til I'm asleep on Tuesday, then I have to wait until I get home from work, and my wife goes to class at 10am, Wed, before I get to play.

If only people would remember that little factoid. So I suppose by that logic you'd be totally cool with Baron Corbin winning the NXT Title from Finn? Or the Hype Bros beating the Vaudevillains for the tag titles? NXT may be a developmental league, but there's still some standards that need to be upheld. It's been years since they put the title on any random stiff who happened to have a good look. You can't go from the caliber of matches women like Bayley and Sasha were putting on, to Eva possibly managing to stumble her way through something halfway-watchable. Agreed. Just because it's developmental doesn't mean everyone's equal. The titles should be passed amongst the best in the group. Looking at it like any other school, just because Eva's in the school doesn't mean she gets to be on the honor role. This is Eva.

Hypothetical booking: They actually book Eva as incompetent, continue this weird angle of spurious pins and thanking the ref, have Eva beat Bayley under some heelish technicality even though she sucked in the match. Bayley, fed up and infuriated with NXT, like the fans would be, quits, going to WWE, leaving Eva at the hands of the next talented face.
The obvious problem being that Bayley wouldn't quit. So do the same, but Bayley wins it back.

It's more than a little weird how NXT doesn't call them "Divas" yet the main roster does and yet NXT acknowledges the "Divas Revolution" and claims that their women's division is part of that. I think NXT does call them Divas. Hell, in Cah-MEH-lahhhh's intro promo, she calls herself the most fabulous Diva in N. X. T. (Bada Bing, hottest chick in the ring. Ha ya doin'?) I think NXT has it right in that it's mixed. People say Divas, people say women and/or wrestlers. In that way it doesn't feel like such a buzzword, like theres a memo pinned in the back that says "must use 'Diva' each time a woman is mentioned".

It would be interesting to have a male and female who are friends and running buddies, without shoehorning them into a love story. They almost had it with Kaitlyn and EC3, but went the couple route with them.

I will never understand why people want something stupid to happen in wrestling just to see the fans get angry. Why should the rest of us have to suffer just so you few can laugh? Eva has go-away heat. If she wins it'll be fans that go away and stop tuning in. Bolieve me, I DO NOT want to see it happen. But if it does happen, instead of whining to no avail, I'll just sit back and watch the world burn.
