I dont see this posted anywhere, but if its already up than I apologize; Bret Hart appeared on on Off the Record with Michael Landsberg on 12/7. Bret said that he doesn't want to watch much wrestling anymore because he wants to get passed what happened with Chris Benoit -- it brings too much grief. The host said it could take forever for Bret to get passed it considering how many guys Bret knew well who have passed away. Hart says there are guys he worries about now, specifically naming his former tag team partner Jim Neidhart. Bret says there's more being done for the wrestlers of today, but feels the wrestlers being ignored are "the ones who have been used up and pushed out the door," like Jim Neidhart, not to mention wrestlers that have already passed away such as Brian "Crush" Adams, Sherri Martel and Bam Bam Bigelow. Bret said they end up broke and have nothing left. "Someone might say, hey, there's Bam Bam Bigelow, but he's passed out in the back of his car. No one helps them with their pain, they paid for their own surgeries, and the addiction to painkillers spiraled out of control. The WWE is focusing on their current guys, but they don’t care about the guys they’ve already let go," Bret said. rajah.com/base/node/10336I hope Neidhart is OK. I never knew he had problems as well. He looked alright on RAW XV. I dont want to lose another Hart Foundation member.

I think he meant that Neidhart's beard died and he had to replace it.

I thought it was a wonderful gesture by WWE to offer to pay for drug/alcohol rehab for any former wrestler. But why would they be obligated to pay for medical bills/surgeries etc for someone who is not in their employ? The wrestlers are contractors, and as such they have the responsibility to take care of themselves.
Let them organize and unionize if they expect the benefits and perks of an employee. I'd expect that to happen around the same time the Stanley Cup is played in Hell

So is Brett ignoring the fact that Vince sent out a letter to most of the former guys saying he would pay for help?

So is Brett ignoring the fact that Vince sent out a letter to most of the former guys saying he would pay for help? Or perhaps Bret is actually waiting for evidence of Vince doing that, rather then taking Vince's word for it?

Let them organize and unionize if they expect the benefits and perks of an employee. It's been tried. And it usually goes something like this: "Rogue radical" worker gets the guys together and starts a rallying cry. Everybody says that they back the idea 100 percent.Lots of talking happens amongst the boys in the locker room. Plans are made, and lists of demands are written. Now, it's time for action! And everybody backs down with their tails between their legs in fear of being blacklisted. And in some cases, the "rogue radical" is outed to the office and indeed blacklisted. Roddy Piper covers this pretty well in whatever that DVD was that he did with Bruno Sammartino(Legends Never Die?).

Think about what you're saying before jumping on the Vince is all kinds of evil bandwagon. Vince needs all the good publicity he can get with this scandal. Do you seriously think he will offer help and then when someone wants it, say, 'hahahahaha...no.' Of course he wouldn't. The negative coverage would be crippling. Is helping Jake not not enough?

It's a good start. And though this has nothing to do with Mc Mahon, I wish Jake, or somebody would have done this a decade ago.

Considering how much blow and drinking Bret said Jim did in his book, along with his many marital problems he has had, I'm not surprised he is worried.... Who knows if he is still doing those things now....
