I say hold an open try out for the spot on Smackdown. JBL could invite jobbers that mock the other announcers and use the skit to get himself some cheap heat. The JR jobber could just rant about pet coons, government mules and BBQ sauce. The Lawler jobber could rant about puppies. Joey Styles could just scream, OH MY GOD!!! The Cole jobber could make a coming out of the closet speech. You could legitimately have Todd Grisham out there just to get mocked for sucking.
But when JBL get to the Tazz jobber, the lights could black out Tazz's theme music could and Tazz himself could come out to the ring. The Tazz jobber could recieve a quick Tazzmission, and get tossed out of the way, letting JBL and Tazz stare each other down. Then JBL could offer a handshake, which Tazz would accept. Afterwards Tazz could start to walk to the announce table only to recieve a Clothesline from Hell.
So yeah.... my vote obviously goes for Tazz.

I thought Funaki was the #1 Smackdown deal.

I thought Funaki was the #1 Smackdown deal. Just have him say "INDEEED!" to anything Cole says. ...actually I wonder if they could poach Kenny Blankenship and Vic Romano off of Spike...

I would say with JBL leaving this is a perfect time to bring back Sunny.
But then I say that with every storyline.

Howard Finkel. I think it was RD who said he was an excellent commentator, but now one really knows that. But I assume he'd be a better PBP man than Color.

Sean Mooney. Cole and Mooney, greatest team EVER.
Jesse Ventura would be good too
Tony Schivone, if he would actually care, and they told him to ease up on the shilling. He was good in the early 80's NWA.
Jim Niedhart. He was good in early 91.
Vince McMahon. His breakdown could lead to that "Crazy and thinks it's 1995" gimmick that we all wanna see. Blue jacket, Whatamaneuver, reffering to old gimmicks, and all. "It's Justin Hawk Bradshaw against newcomer, Lionheart Chris Jericho." Gold!

Can we please get a heel announcer? A real heel announcer? A real heel announcer who won't let his personal and jingoistic feelings get in the way of rooting for the heel? Or is that too much to ask?

Damien Demento would take steroids if he thought it could help him announce better and he knew how to get a hold of some.
