Extremely unfortunate, and completely avoidable. Only the best to Bart and his loved ones.

Man, I can't imagine what his family must be going through. My condolences go out to them.

Why did they have guns in the first place? I am guessing he was American?

That is so terrible. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bart and his family in their time of need. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through.

Sad news.
Tragically ironic in a sense too.

Why did they have guns in the first place? I am guessing he was American? What is that supposed to me? Anyways, I'm sad to hear it. Isn't there a possible way to clean a rifle without it being loaded?

I did not mean to be insulting if I came off that way
I did not know if he was American, like me so I was asking. It is well known that Americans like their guns.
To answer one poster, yes guns should only be cleaned when they are unloaded and safe. I am guessing the term 'cleaning his gun' was him wiping down the outside of the weapon with a cloth, and it went off due to several possible reasons. Also, youth and guns do NOT mix, it could be this guy was horsing around with the weapon as he was cleaning it, or worse saying 'what could go wrong, aren't you a man? ' type of macho youth male crap.
It's also sadly ironic due to the last name. 8(
I feel for the family, this kind of death is even worse than a sudden car accident.

That's actually a false stereotype. My whole family and I hate guns. And we're American.

Thanks for clarifying...I'm not gonna lie, my ire went up real quick, but this post helped a lot. Yes, they were in the United States, which means that they can legally possess and discharge firearms. Now isn't the time to deal with the politics, nor will it ever be the time to do it publicly on these forums. Yes, there is a way to clean a gun completely safely without risk of discharge. The first rule of use of a firearm is treat it like it's loaded, even if you believe it's not loaded. Then clear your action and leave it open, and maintain muzzle control at all times. We all slip up every now and again, but if you exercise those three things, you'll drop the chances of these sorts of incidents quickly. Saying "Americans like their guns" is a great way to pick a fight. I'd give you a respectfully strong suggestion to drop that rhetoric quickly. I won't be insulted, but others will. And it's not "ironic" because of his name, because last I check his name isn't Gunn. That's a stage name for pro wrestling his daddy used back in his heyday...I think we can forget a contrived irony that doesn't really exist and just accept the tragedy without trivializing because his dad once wrestled for a tag team with "Gunn" in the name.

Wow, with Helms' mother passing away and now this, the end of the year really stinks for wrestlers...
Hell, this whole year stank for wrestlers.
At least, Orton brings some happiness with his wife being pregnant.
All my sympathy goes to Bart Gunn and his family...

It's also sadly ironic due to the last name. 8( His last name is Barton, considering his father's name is Michael Barton, lol. I agree, it's very sad about what happened. RIP, and thoughts and prayers for Bart, really.

That's awful. Those will be sad holidays for the Gunn / Polchlopek family. I hope police will investigate this thoroughly.
