The WWE has done some things in the past such as piped chants and commentators misinterpreting the crowd chants(Wrestlemania 20 with Lesnar/Goldberg). Would WWE sink so low is to use?
CGI Crowds
Stock Footage
Overdubbing Promos
Laugh Tracks(when Triple H tellls a joke)

I approve of stock footage in wrestling. And splicing reaction shots of Calculon

Using staff members as an entire crowd. its been done. anytime they want to 'redo' spots on a taped show, they push in tight with the cameras and have staffers jump around like crazy for any of the space left where the audience would be, even though the arena is long since empty.

the "triple replay" effect on finishers, like seen in Smackdown vs Raw. That would actually be pretty cool!

Wake me when someone counters a move and someone (not one of the announcers) overdubs "C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!" Actually, that would be kind of awesome, wouldn't it?

We've already had stock footage in Britain forever.
For the three or four years I watched Smackdown! on Sky One on Saturday Mornings, they would censor everything with crowd shots. And there was this one guy, with a rolled up poster in his hand and a DX hat on, chanting 'YOU DAMN BITCH! YOU DAMN BITCH!' all by himself that I would see about three times on a weekly basis.
And get this - NOW I MISS THE GUY.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there should be a wrestler with a sitcom canned laughter noise as part of his gimmick. He can have cheesy loungue music as his entrance theme.
