Was that a one time thing, or is he back?

Aw, damn. Any reason why he spontaneously showed up and squashed Santino?

Aw, damn. Any reason why he spontaneously showed up and squashed Santino? Because WWE wanted him to?

I think that was a terrible move. RVD had about eight seconds to do anything and they squashed someone on the regular roster. What a load.

santinos entire purpose is to be the comedic heel who gets squashed, and so he should against a former world champion

But... why only one night? And as a side question, why not like, an ECW wrestler, at least?

it was quick and to the point. though it would have been great to have had Santino cut a promo on RVD.

Aw, damn. Any reason why he spontaneously showed up and squashed Santino? I'm guessing cause they wanted to pop the crowd and Santino doesn't really have any push to be damanged at the moment, so it seemed like a win/win. What bothers me however was JR's screaming of "MISTER MONDAY NIGHT IS BACK!!!" making it sound like Van Dam was back on the regular roster. I thought he would be until I read where Van Dam himself said he had no desire to return at the moment and it was just one time. He's working with Booker in Booker's fed sometime soon though.

They're probably doing everything they can do to get on his good side for if/when he decides to resume his career.

Fair enough. But I did want RVD back. Damn it. Of course, I also wanted Marty Jannetty back, so my opinion may not be the greatest to uphold.

He was only back for one night for the exact same reason that every other wrestler not on the regular roster that made an appearance that night was only back for one night: It was an anniversary show. People make one-time appearances at these things.

Jesus, man, I marked like a little girl when Marty came out, as I've done for each of his "returns" this century. I still want him back as well, as he's more entertaining and can work a better match than Kennedy, Orton, Cena, Lashley, Carlito, etc in my opinion....

People make one-time appearances at these things. None of whom had been regulars on the roster in years, unlike RVD, who could have been coming back full-time that night after a few months off. Fair enough. But I did want RVD back. Damn it. Of course, I also wanted Marty Jannetty back, so my opinion may not be the greatest to uphold. When Marty popped out at the end of that HBK promo I was like "Oh crap, its Marty Jannetty. Well, there's one more good match tonight." The fact that he wrestles maybe twice a year and both those matches are 3&1/2+ stars is pretty damn good. Any word on whether or not he can actually wrestle again?

You're right, he could've been, but he wasn't returning. It's not like WWE said he was going to be on Raw next week or anything.

Also, if they decide they want to push the guy, they'll have plenty of time to start building him back up starting with this tag team push. It's still early on in his career, and getting squashed by RVD isn't going to hurt him any worse than getting beat up by a guy who retired due to injuries several year ago like Ron Simmons.
