sportscenter is atrocious, espn tries to make the story, situations in the last few years like the ongoing TO saga or numerous other incidents wouldn't even be news if it weren't for ESPN's hyperbole, the only redeeming thing about the network is that they have the best sports writer in the world bill simmons working for them and the fact that the only time they mention wrestling is to pile on and try to bury it because it beats them in the ratings is very shallow

Simmons rules though. Draft diaries are legend even the NHL one he tried to do this year. He doesn't slander wrestling as much since he is/was a fan. But he does throw in cheap shots to "fit in" with the rest of the journalistic world however. EDIT: In fact if I remember correctly he went on and on about how the Kurt Angle "You Suck" chant was the best thing he ever heard.

ESPN likes to belittle pro wrestling when it gets the chance. But they used to always belittle NASCAR, but now they have their own one hour programming block since they began airing NASCAR races. They wouldn't even acknowledge Arena Football's existence on Sportscenter until ESPN began airing AFL games starting this season.
Bottom line, since the WWE and TNA doesn't make money for ESPN, they mean nothing to them other than being a joke. But if, let's say, TNA actually had a one-hour show on ESPN, they might had change their tone.

ESPN does not look at Pro Wrestling the way we do. Except when it involves AJ Pierzynski.
Also, Mr. Crazy Larry, I assume you're a Yankees fan.

I'm impressed that anyone at ESPN knows wrestling is choreographed in the first place. The only person with a brain that works there is Peter Gammons. Joined: Dec 2005 Gender: Male Posts: 1,102 Location: Minnesota Favorite Team: Red Sox I fixed your profile based on your Gammons observation. I thought Gammons worked for Sports Illustrated, but was just used a lot as a "smart media type to interview" on ESPN Radio and TV. EDIT: I take that back. He used to work there. I'm too old anymore to really care ;D

The ESPN Vs. Wrestling debate has always seemed silly to me. I think that those in charge of ESPN these days despise wrestling, but a lot of the anchors are fans. Every now and then I hear SC anchors making references to wrestlers, so I'm thinking that the stories and hooplah they say are written for them and it is their job to report it, but they make thinly-veiled wrestling references during highlights as a sort-of wink/snap/grin/nudge to fans.

I remember when Scott Van Pelt used Carlito's "I spit in the face..." during a highlight.

And arent all fans of Gammons & Sports Guy Red Sox fans? Anyway at least it isnt alone, they make fun of bowling and they even broadcast that!
