KURT ANGLE VS. VINCE MCMAHON & BATISTA THIS WEEKEND? by Mike Johnson @ 10:15:15 AM on 8/16/2007
Numerous sources have told me that TNA will debut a video on their website this weekend that features TNA champion Kurt Angle in a "Conneticut bar" where he encounters and gets into a bar room brawl with a "Vince McMahon" and a "Batista" among other parodies of WWE performers. I was told by someone who was on set that if it's edited to be as funny as some of the footage that was shot, it'll be something to see.

To quote Professor Farnsworth:
SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS!!
To quote myself:
HOLY HAMMER OF DAWN!!
Prediction: It probably won't be funny.

When did Kurt join VKM (or am I not to remember that they did that stuff at all)?

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

This accomplishes what exactly? Good question, it might be funny so I'll wait till it comes out to get a proper assessment of it, but I don't think this accomplishes anything other than telling viewers to pay attention to WWE.

By the beard of Zeus this is pointless, and will more than likely not be funny in the least. I'll watch it just to see how cheesey it looks.

Can TNA just stop doing this shit? Like....really. It hasn't worked the first thousand times they did it and it won't work now.

And in all hilarity, most people forgot Kurt even worked for the WWE.

I'd love to know this also, it certainly hasn't reflected in their ratings.

Ok, I am NOT defending this sort of thing. I always think it's stupid to mention the competition. Always. Esspecially because I don't watch WWE so when The James Gang used to talk about DX skits I had no idea what they were talking about.
BUT.
When Paul Heyman and Eric Biscoff did this kind of thing in the 90s, everyone said it was 'brilliant' and 'cutting edge.' Shooting on the competition was cool.
Marks of all companies were silly for celebrating it. ECW fans loved shooting on MacMahon, oblivious to the fact that he was funding their "Extreme revolution."
WWF fans hated Biscoff for giving away the endings to taped Raw broadcasts, but thought it was awesome for HHH to 'invade' Nitro.
And WCW fans hated Jim Cornette's shoots on WCW and loved Biscoff giving away the ending to Raw until it backfired big time with Foley and "asses in seats."
Talking about the competition is always stupid. It doesn't matter if you're Paul Heyman, Eric Biscoff, Vince MacMahon or Jeff Jarrett.

Talking about the competition is always stupid. It doesn't matter if you're Paul Heyman, Eric Biscoff, Vince MacMahon or Jeff Jarrett. It is, and in the case of Bischoff it backfired on him big time during that one episode of Raw where Foley won the title. But doing actual skits that take up time on a Impact show where they're desperately trying to get viewers to care about their own show isn't too wise.

In a Russo shot I seen, he said when you're #2 you have to recognize #1 & bury him but when you're #1 you don't acknowledge #2.

Weird. On the TNA site, it says it's Spike TVs action short, not TNA's:

Weird. On the TNA site, it says it's Spike TVs action short, not TNA's: Perhaps it is, but I'm fairly certain they'll air it on TV, maybe not in is entirety, but it's still a waste of time and the least of their worries talking about WWE.
