August 21, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GABE SAPOLSKY BOOKS THE “NEW” ECW IN LATEST GUEST BOOKER DVD The highly anticipated second edition of the Guest Booker DVD series features Gabe Sapolsky, head booker of Ring of Honor, occupying the mock-booker seat and re-booking his former employer, ECW. The critically acclaimed series produced by KayfabeCommentaries.com presents Gabe with the hypothetical challenge of taking the helm of ECW in June of 2006, when Vince McMahon and the WWE revived the moribund brand. Sapolsky books the federation up to and including the December to Dismember pay-per-view. This edition of the DVD series seeks to rewrite the return pay-pay-per-view of the one-time renegade federation – a pay-per-view that in the “real world” was widely regarded as a drab homecoming. “That’s the beauty of this series,” says Sean Oliver, co-owner of KayfabeCommentaries and host of the series. “Any era in pro wrestling can be matched with a booker that might have served it better, or at the very least differently. And the results of a more congruous pairing can be exciting.” Gabe Sapolsky is currently the booker for ROH and was a one-time employee of ECW up until its bankruptcy in 2001. That’s an element that Oliver says adds to the appeal of the most recent edition. “This is a contemporary booker who is actively booking a popular product. Add to that the fact that we have him re-booking a product he is intensely familiar with, having worked there (ECW) for years. The general displeasure with the actual December to Dismember makes this all the more alluring.” Guest Booker with Gabe Sapolsky went on sale today at www.kayfabecommentaries.com. www.gerweck.netAwesome.

I'm curious if anyone has the first one of these? Kevin Sullivan and WWE in 84 (without Hogan) seems interesting.

Is this DVD going to be 10 minutes long, chronicling how Vince, Stephanie, Kevin Dunn, and Gerwitz would shoot down every single one of Gabe's ideas and send him home before the PPV?
Sounds pretty blah. Anybody could've booked a better ECW PPV than D2D, but not working under Vince.

This sounds like an interesting concept. And not just with Gabe and ECW. How exactly does this work?

Based on what I read on the site, the people who run the place sit down with the booker and interview him for a couple of hours while they do show by show rundowns. It strikes me as being equivalent to filming Jed as he types up a Rewriting the Book honestly.

I'd be curious about Gabe's ideas, and how he goes about booking shows. It may not be the most exciting thing in the world, but I just have a feeling I might be really fascinated by it.

I agree that it's a fascinating idea. It's definitely got my interest as an idea, but I think it would take a really engaging personality to keep me watching someone fantasy booking.

Gabe's pretty engaging when he's throwing temper tantrums. At least, he sounded hilarious when CM Punk and Samoa Joe impersonated him.

But are they saying that Paul didn't or couldn't come up with similarly good ideas before they got rewritten?
And on what planet was One Night Stand a drab reunion ppv?

An interesting thing I'd like to know is if he's given the challenge of booking ECW with all the issues that the product had in the beginning, with the loss of arrest of Rob Van Dam and the release of Kurt Angle. I read that was to be the main event of December to Dismember.

I love the cheap effects and editing used in a poor attempt to make it sound exciting.
Seeing Gabe book is interesting, not exciting.

I actually went ahead and ordered it. I had some money built up in my paypal account from ebay sales that I wasn't using anyway. So it's kinda like I'm getting it free, anyway. At least as far as my bank account's concerned.
