One of the best I can think of right now was when Alan "Kwee Wee" Funk wrestled as the Funkster, a near-perfect Hogan red-n-yellow imitation.
I would have paid money to see a Funkster vs. Gillberg match. big money.
By the way, I searched Google for 1/2 hour and COULD NOT FIND an image of the Funkster.

That's a travesty because I remember seeing pics of how awesome that was. Alan Funk was a good wrestler.

Best I've ever seen was a guy who went by the name of Mark Kayfabe. He did multiple gimmicks at once; Crow Sting facepaint, green hair like The Hurricane, Hulk Hogan tear-away tank top, spit water like Triple H, had "nWo" spray-painted across his back... very entertaining.
And it didn't end with appearance; his "moveset" was an amalgamation of many of the aforementioned wrestlers as well as many others not previously mentioned.
And let's be honest, how can you not love that ring name?

a really close friend of mine plays a character on the indy scene in NY/NJ/PA called the Voice. Its a complete Undertaker/Kane character, except he is black. His nickname is actually the NegroTaker, only more offensive. He plays the character really well, and is a pretty good worker, its just he has the gimmick of someone else.
Oddly enough, he gets booked for shows more often then most of the guys i know (way more than i do), and is able to live pretty well off the character.
