The masterminds are Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom, collectively known as The Destruction Crew. They even say it themselves.
See?

lets have fun and see if we are under the looking glass, so to say. Here is an alteration of a pic I made of the Sears Tower being struck by lightning. I made it in a Sin City-type style: C'mon. Use it 161. I dare ya. EDIT: Kinda made a mash-up of my last sig and the above pic(its my current sig). I'd so dig if they made that the box art or something for the 161st show

Well... I love how this just has everyone guessing lol. Just a guess but it sounds like a veteran burnt out on the business and is tired of fans that give the perception of loving him at shows then go home and b**** that he can't put on 5 star matches for one reason or another. I'd love to see it end up being RVD... just cause I'd love to see Van Dam motivated again and willing to go out and wrestle like it was 10 years. How hard would I mark to hear the opening riff to Walk at one of these shows. I'd consider it at least a possibility. The man is being insanely secretive about his plans for the near future.

After a match involving Whitmer and Pearce tonight at Caged Rage, Brent Albright came to the ring and attacked Delirious, while Pearce talked about Masks. Then BJ Whitmer stapled Delirious's mask to his(Delirious's, I would assume) head. Folks, this looks like the groundwork!
Unless Albright is just a gun for hire...

Someone brought up the possibility that 161 could mean 161st street in New York, which is Spanish Harlem....home to BLK OUT.

I've said it before, and now I'm sayin' it again, the mask is comin' off, Delirious is gonna' make one hell of a memorable heel turn, and lead 161 to the top of ROH. I can't wait!!!

Last I checked, it was Downtown Manhattan(Thats the Empire St. Building, right?) Chrysler Building, which is a few blocks away (relatively speaking) from the Empire State Building, basically across the way a few blocks down from Times Square.

I made it in a Sin City-type style: At the exact moment that lightning hits the Sears Tower it will give us enough power to send Marty McFly BACK to the Future!

As much as I would like this to happen, I don't think it will. It would totally kill his earning power elsewhere. Promoters seem to book Delirious (and Abyss, for that matter) for the "entire package," not just for the in-ring stuff. The mask tends to tie it all in. When the mask goes, the mystique goes as well. And when the mystique goes, everything goes. I mean, look at Kane. His entire character was ruined the second the mask was thrown out. The only difference is that Kane has a written contract. He doesn't rely on several different promoters to make a living. Delirious and Abyss do.

The first person I thought of when I read that was Jerry Lynn. I honestly don't know why, but he's who immediately popped into my head. First person I thought of was Jake Roberts. And this angle is getting really interesting. I didn't think Albright would be involved at all, unless he is only a hired gun.

After seeing the results for this weekend's set of shows, I have come to the conclusion that 161 is, in part, Delirious, Nigel McGuiness, and Pelle Primeau. The Delirious one is obvious - it has already been brought up numerous times. As for the other two:
- The 161 "light trick" from a few weeks ago happened during Nigel's match with Chris Hero. Some in this thread (or the last one) have attributed blog post number ten to Nigel, due to the line of people waiting for his autograph at a recent show. Finally, one of the cities on the original Abused Society page has been cited by some (like myself) as London.
- Pelle has been getting his ass kicked as of late. First he loses the Top of the Class Trophy, then he gets his ass kicked by Davey Richards.
Again, I'm throwing stuff against the wall here. Opinions?
EDIT: One other thing I thought of concerning Nigel. As you all no doubt remember, a picture of the Boston Tea Party accompanied the Boston show. Now if I remember the story correctly, the colonists, in an attempt to remain stealthy/pass the blame, did all of this disguised as Indians. The same thing could be said here. Nigel was posing as a "normal" ROH roster member in order to avoid detection. As for the "pass the blame," part... well... he is going against the Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney, after all.

It's too hard to say. ROH lobbed us an underhand softball pitch tonight: putting Nigel, Delirious, Pearce, Whitmer, etc. all in the same place at the same time.
But not a peep about 161.
The only signs were guys in discreet t-shirts walking around.
In other words: things are even more confusing than they were before.
