I've said it before, and now I'm sayin' it again, the mask is comin' off, Delirious is gonna' make one hell of a memorable heel turn, and lead 161 to the top of ROH. I can't wait!!! As much as I would like this to happen, I don't think it will. It would totally kill his earning power elsewhere. Promoters seem to book Delirious (and Abyss, for that matter) for the "entire package," not just for the in-ring stuff. The mask tends to tie it all in. When the mask goes, the mystique goes as well. And when the mystique goes, everything goes. I mean, look at Kane. His entire character was ruined the second the mask was thrown out. The only difference is that Kane has a written contract. He doesn't rely on several different promoters to make a living. Delirious and Abyss do. It may hinder him somewhat, but it doesn't mean that he can't use the gimmick in other promotions. Sure, some of the mystique may be gone. But from being fortunate to meet him on two seperate occasions maskless, I can safely say that he seems very well spken, and a good lookin' dude, but not in a gay way or anything. Also a quick update, I was also fortunate enough to talk to Matt Cross for about 10 or 15 minutes this week too, and nothin' from him. He did say that he was excited to see where it goes, but he wasn't forthcoming with any info at all... Either very few actually know how it's gonna' play out, or everyone's doin' there part to keep this deal under raps... |

Someone on the ROH board said the 161 guys were giving out a DVD or two as well They were...I couldn't get one. It was in a plain black case with Honor on a piece of paper. |

I heard they were around selling "what looked like bootlegs".
If there's really clues on those discs, then this is getting even more interesting.
Also, I doubt most guys in ROH know what the storyline will be; this definitely seems like one of those "keep it from the boys" storylines, don't wanna risk a guy spoiling anything.

I was hopin' to get somethin' out of one of the ROH guys that was in Buffalo for Ballpark Brawl VIII, but nothing, sadly. But here is an update from the ROH Board:
i watched the DVD they gave out tonight at the NYC show..it was a camera strolling through the forest and then it would cut to a scene of either dead bodies, people jumping off a cliff, nooses, a bullet hole, or a grave stone...nothin interesting...
though it had a catchy sinister type beat |

Isn't the song on the video backwards? That it is. I just reversed it in Cool Edit. After listening to it "reversed," I can honestly say that I'm still stumped. EDIT: I noticed that around the 22 second mark on the video (44 second mark if you're watching it on YouTube) , the music is edited badly. There is extra "noise" between the bass hits, which makes the second hit come in a bit too late. In other viral marketing campaigns/ARGs (the "Year Zero" ARG instantly comes to mind), things like a misplaced beat or random noise on the track mean something. Now, I realize that I'm probably looking too much into this. Judging by the ROH and FIP DVD releases, audio is not Gabe's strong suite. Still, I figure it doesn't hurt bringing it up. |
