I do not watch TNA regularly, so I am not sure if Vince Russo is still working with them or not. However, if he is, I have to question...why? From what little I have seen, TNA has become a helluvalot sillier and over the top in the last couple of years. And I have heard from several online sources that TNA's buyrates actually dropped. And yet still, the guy has a job. The logic escapes me. Sure, Russo can lay claim to having had a big hand in the Attitude Era WWF. But he is also the man who played a HUGE role in the ultimate demise of WCW. He is the man who is loathed by many wrestlers, and almost universally by fans. He is the man who was re-hired and then fired by the WWE in the space of a week. I think the guys infamous reputation speaks for itself. And yet, there are still those who insist on defending the guy, who cling desperately to the hope that he can still conjure up some of that magic that helped the WWF reach new heights. It is like hoping that Kevin Nash can summon a halfway decent match without crippling himself in the process. Such a deep question...and no real answer.

I like how people just bitch about certain people even though the only thought they have of how a company works is what crap-fest sites tell them.

Off-topic, but this isn't his first time on the TNA Rodeo. He was the writer for the first 2 1/2 years of TNA's existance. Some people liked that era, especially after Russo went Born Again and focused on the wrestling more.

Back on. he keeps getting jobs because he is good at laying out shows (What goes where) and creating characters. While I don't like how he books matches, he is great at creating characters that people care about.

I think they hired Russo so he could take the blame for bad angles.
I mean, he has said he doesn't care what the "purist" fans on the internet think, so they could use him as a decoy.

Because someone has to take the fall for brainfarts such as Pacman's hiring (even if that wasn't strictly Russo's decision)

You see people are brushing off Russo's "booking", but the shows since he was signed on as an "Advisor" the shows have had quite the Russo-riffic booking.

His job was to get more people watching Impact. He's been there 1 year and more people are watching Impact. Enough said. True. For the smart fans, it's been a roller coaster as the wrestlers now have more personality, but they are also hit and miss. But the smart fans are only a part of the audience. TNA would rather reach out and have the marks which would buy their merch and watch all their shows and quiet frankly, I don't blame them. National wrestling companies would be idiotic to be catering to the smarks.

I hope the owners and operators of the company made that decision. It's been said before. Bringing in Pacman Jones was Jeff Jarrett's decision. That was cause of the closeness between Jarrett and the Titans(See all the times the Titans have shown up in TNA broadcasts over the years.) Plus, Jeff Jarrett is the one who plans out the stuff and who gets booked and pushed, while Russo organizes it and puts it into motion.

National wrestling companies would be idiotic to be catering to the smarks. See: ECW That was only on a regional level from 94-97. When they went national they couldn't depend on smarks in all corners of the US. The half-empty arenas in New Orleans, Iowa and other places killed them. TNA is a national organization. The smark audience can only take you so far.

*ahem* I'll say it a... Nah, never mind. Hey, do you think he's Jarrett's friend? Cause you haven't said it enough yet.... And yet, it bears no point or relevance to this argument. Ok, buh buy now.
