sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/10/02/pacman.wrestling.ap/Not the way you'd think, but by purchasing (though I don't know if I buy it's all out of his pocket, especially with the Dixie Carter bit in the story....) 1,500 tickets and distributing them to high school students with high academic achievements from his alma matter. This isn't a bad way to gain some extra media attention and maybe some exposure to new fans, but I had to do a lot of digging to find it. The timing is almost perfect, though, as the move to two hours and his "title defense" are right around the corner.....

If I gave him 1,500 DOLLARS do you think he'd stay off my tv?

Apparently he's a great guy back stage and a total mark for TNA, so this does seem like something he'd do.

It is a very nice jesture, but maybe it's the cynical bastard in me that thinks that Dixie sold him the tickets on the cheap (or just flat out gave them to him) and then typed up the press release for the media outlets to get a cheap (well, relatively cheap, depending on how well the tickets were selling....) plug for their first 2 hour show this Thursday.
Again, it's really great that the kids get to benefit from it and I think their hearts are in the right places (heads are debatable, because at times they seem lodged in their own hindquarters), but I think TNA should learn that press on Pacman doesn't increase viewership.

If I gave him 1,500 DOLLARS do you think he'd stay off my tv? That money would be better suited to hiring a psychotic hobo to physically kidnap Pacman and keep him locked in a sewer where he's repeatedly assaulted by midgets with cattle prods a la The Killing Joke. Just sayin'.

That was sweet of him.
So what are the odds he'll donate money to the guy he helped paralyze?

Nice of him to do that really. I do believe he bought them himself, the money he's had from TNA and other sources would easily cover it.

Must be a HUGE smurfing high school if there are 1500 tickets and only for the smart kids.. It's for the entire county (if i've read it correctly) not just his high scool.

So what are the chances TNA would bring in the paralyzed guy and let him do a shoot promo? The guy was a former wrestler, and Russo loves his shoots, after all!

That was sweet of him. So what are the odds he'll donate money to the guy he helped paralyze? Dunno, but he's been donating to charities and students since before the guy got paralyzed, and long before TNA needed the PR rub for their Thursday night show. Most NFL players do, and they're heavily encouraged to do so by the league upon entrance.

I think the league also subtly encourages NOT getting arrested multiple times or causing public disturbances that result in men getting paralyzed.
