Well would he? Plan is to drop the belt but Bret wont lay down for 3 or get into any submission position. How would Vince have dealt with it.

Are you asking if he would've taken the belt to WCW the night after Survivor Series?

Since Bret's contract wasn't technically up for a few more days, I believe he's asking if the planned finish for Survivor Series had gone on, would Bret have shown up on Raw the next night and gone into business for himself (instead of the planned dropping or vacating of the title).

I'm going to say no. He had too much respect for the business and for the company.

The planned finish on Raw was going to be Bret handing the title to Vince.
I think Bret would've done that.

being the man of honor Bret is, he would've dropped the belt to anyone BUT Shawn Michaels. he said he would drop it to Austin, Taker, Mankind or Owen in Ottawa but not to Shawn MIchaels, at least in Canada. They shouldve had him drop the strap to Owen in Ottawa and let him go his own way. Bret has way too much respect for the business and the company to screw Vince. Vince screws everyone, not Bret.

If you remember the time frame you can see why Vince would be jumpy. Jarrett forced Vince to pay him a ton of cash just to show up on a PPV right before he jumped to WCW. Madusa threw the womens title in a trash can on Nitro. Everyone was doing something at the time to be noticed.
It was probably in Vince's mind the only move to make.

The Jarrett thing happened 2 years later. I think Bret would have done the right thing, seeing how his father was a promoter and he has lots of respect for the business.

Bret would've done the right thing. If he didn't, his family might have disowned him.

I'm going to say no. He had too much respect for the business and for the company. Agreed. Also, he was smart enough to know that should things not work out with WCW, he would be ill advised to burn bridges.

Allright I have my times a little mixed up but you see where I'm going with this? A lot of wrestlers and a couple of writers went on buisness for themselves. It was defintly a good time to be a wrestler with a enough talent to get on TV.

Bret would've probably done the right thing but it was too high of a risk for McMahon.
It was a horrible situation no matter how it turned out. With the screwjob finish Bret looked bad. With the forfeit finish the WWF would've looked bad.
The only way it would've worked would have been if Bret would've just lost in America but the schedule didn't work that way.

you know, I know he was disgusted an all, but if he was still under contract, could he have in fact actually showed up on Raw and hijacked the show?

After the screwjob happened you mean? I am fairly certain WWE security wouldn't have let him in the building.

If theres one person I'd expect to be professional and NOT screwed Vince on Raw, it is Bret Hart.

Actually I think his contract wasn't up for weeks after the screwjob. He would have likely dropped it and sometime during then.

I could swear I remember reading that Ken Shamrock was potentially going to be the one Bret would lose it to but i'm not sure.

It's one of those things where there's no easy answer. Bret wouldn't've jumped to WCW and trashed the belt but Bischoff could've easily just announced on Nitro that Bret Hart was jumping to WCW and pretty much buried the WWF if Bret left SS with the belt. Bischoff may say now that he wouldn't do it but we all know he would
