For the past year or so I've been rather interested in what kind of ratings ECW received when they were on TNN. Mostly out of curiosity, but also to compare to the current Impact ratings.
Does anyone know where I can find these ratings? or even a on average rating for ECW on TNN.
Thanks.

They got TNA numbers WITHOUT network support. Whereas TNA gets 1.0 ratings with tons of support from Spike (which is, ironically, the former TNN).

Yeah, I thought it was funny when they were pulling .9's while demanding to be taken OFF the air.

Two things....
1. TNA's average rating is 25-50% higher than ECW's
2. ECW aired on TNN in 1999 and 2000, which were years in which wrestling in the U.S. was still a hot property.

I know. ECW was still good when it was dying. TNN crap all over ECW and ECW still drew in just about as many fans as TNA does and that is with hype.
Just think about how ECW would have been in TNN did suport them. That is something that I have always wondered. what kind of rating would they pulled with suport and advertising.
I'm more surpised after clicking around to find that the last ECW PPV did a .98 is that right? Because that almost the same number Survivor Series did the month before in the same year with a 1.0 and much more then Staracade that year which was .11 I don't know if that is right. .98 for ECW PPV because the rest are not close to that. I mean that is better then most of all the WCW PPVs even in there best period.

What does Spike do to support TNA exactly?

What does Spike do to support TNA exactly? Give them enough money to sign Sting and Kurt Angle. Plus, we see commercials advertising Impact. Not only did ECW receive little money from TNN, but they only received advertisement during their own show.

^ This thread makes me remember just how funny it was to see guys like Heyman just completley bitch out the network that showed his program during the program while it was on tnn lol. It was fantasticly funny.

It's kinda funny, doing further research through that site I discovered that ECW's PPV buyrates for the fall of 2000 were doing better than WCW's.
So it appeared as if ECW was on the verge of overtaken WCW as the number two promotion in the US, so if TNN would have supported them I have no doubt that there television ratings would have surpassed WCW's.

ECW also would've gotten a lot of WCW's stars when they went out of business.

Let's not forget that TNN never had any real interest in pushing ECW and making them big. The network was useing ECW to see how the network's viewers fealt about wrestling so they could decide on whether or not to get Raw.

It was a dream, but in all honesty, even with WCW doing horribly, ECW was never close to "overtaking" it. The only way ECW would've become number 2 is if it stayed in business after WCW went down.

Valid point, I'm sure when it comes to a money aspect it would have taken years for ECW to get a level of a WCW, even with WCW losing 50 million plus a year. If ECW had a budget and if TNN would have been behind there program, ECW would have overtaken WCW as the number two promotion in America. Two big if'ts I know, but regardless they would have made a world of difference.

I'm fairly positive that the following two things would be true: 1. TNA would be pulling at least a 3 if wrestling were as hot now as it was then. 2. If the Real ECW somehow survived to 2007 and were still on Spike, getting the same deal as it did then, it would probably be doing only slightly better numbers than it did then.

I think their best rating was something like a 1.3
Which is a number TNA has never touched...interesting

It's a number they haven't touched YET. Their highest is still 1.2. TNA is five years old and ECW was older than that when their show was on.
Honestly I think the levels of success both companies achieved is remarkably similar.
Sadly as of now, neither company managed to turn a profit.
