What do an Ex-Hooters Girl and Five Canadian Pro-Wrestlers All Have in Common?
Both Debut their Original TV Series this November on The Fight Network
TORONTO, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - The Fight Network is flexing its muscle to
deliver a double dose of combat that rocks! The network has announced the
debut of its first two original television shows that will air in November:
WRESTLING REALITY and ROUGH.
Based in Toronto, The Fight Network is North America's first and only
24-hour specialty television channel offering live and live-to-tape mixed
martial arts, boxing and wrestling events, plus news, entertainment and
information about the fight world.
Wrestling Reality is a show that reveals the school of hard knocks
experienced by a group of professional wrestlers based in the Maritimes.
Rough, starring Canada's own Nicky Ryann, is an exciting entertainment-style
show covering the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Together, these shows join a
knockout line-up poised to take The Fight Network to the next level in
specialty television.
WRESTLING REALITY
If you enjoy watching the tribal fights on Survivor, you are going to
love the combat on Wrestling Reality, the first original television series
that documents the lives of independent pro-wrestlers outside the ring. Set in
Atlantic Canada, Wrestling Reality provides viewers with an exciting inside
look of the trials and tribulations, and the failures and the successes, of
four testosterone-filled men and one very un-testosterone-filled woman, on the
road as they prepare for their own main events.
The series tackles many of the behind-the-scene issues in the world of
pro-wrestling, from drug and steroid use, to the challenges of making a living
and supporting a family while doing what they love best: wrestling.
<<
The colourful cast of Wrestling Reality includes:
- Brody Steele - Measuring over six-and-half-feet, and weighing in at
325 lbs., he is the ring general of the group with a quick temper but
a big heart.
- Trash Canyon - Don't let his name fool you! What he lacks in
experience, he makes up for with his charisma, hard work and
determination.
- Wildman Gary Williams - One of the top wrestlers in the country, this
contradictory character is the mother hen of the group and known as
one of the nicest guys in wrestling.
- Kowboy Mike Hughes - Known as the teller of tall tales, this talented
wrestler has a turbulent history with Brody Steele that is revealed
on the show.
- Krysta Lynn Scott - One of two female wrestlers on the crew, Krysta
struggles to find a balance between being seen as a sex symbol and
being respected as a wrestler, plus she has some ex-boyfriend issues.
>>
Produced by Hemmings House Pictures in Saint John New Brunswick, in
partnership with New Brunswick Film, this unscripted, gritty series was shot
behind the scenes of the wrestlers' six-day tour of Nova Scotia and New
Brunswick this past May.
The six-episode, half-hour show starts Tuesday, November 13th at 8:00 pm
EST.
ROUGH
What happens when you take a former Argos cheerleader and Hooters girl,
who is currently a kickboxing instructor and ultra-opinionated fight fan, and
toss her head-first into the male-dominated world of Mixed Martial Arts? Meet
Nicky Ryann - host and co-creator of Rough - a fast-paced, entertainment-style
show where Ryann dishes the dirt with the "who's who" of the Mixed Martial
Arts world.
From the weigh-ins to the way-out parties, Nicky delivers a one-two punch
with an entertainment series that focuses on the lives and personalities of
some of the biggest names in combat sports today including Randy Couture,
Forrest Griffin and Frank Shamrock, to name a few. Watch as Nicky travels the
globe, steps into the ring and gets up close and personal - asking the tough
and rough questions that the viewer is too afraid to ask.
"We are knocked out by the opportunity to launch both these shows on The
Fight Network," said Brian Sobie, Senior Vice President of Programming, The
Fight Network. "Both Wrestling Reality and Rough have all the ingredients of a
hit show - drama, action, comedy and compelling stories."
"Whether you are a fight fan or not, people will have a lot to talk about
once they watch these new TV shows," Sobie added.
Rough debuts on The Fight Network November 15th at 8:30 pm EST.
