Harley Race and Tony Atlas were at the shopping mall near my house today to sign autographs. The plan was that one of them was going to be there signing autographs and then the other guy would take over afterwards and it was going to run from 11-2. I got there at about 10:45 and both of them were already there. There weren't many people there yet. So I didn't have to wait long to meet them.
I had brought along a book that George Napilotano had released about 15 years ago. Harley Race and Tony Atlas both signed the inside cover. Since there was nobody waiting behind me, Atlas asked me if it was OK if he looked through the book. Of course, I said it was OK if he could. He went through the book and showed Harley Race some of the pictures. Harley seemed interested in some of them as well. They talked about some of the wrestlers who were pictured in the book. Atlas told me that Harley Race trained Joe Hennig, Curt Hennig's son. From what they said it sounds like Joe is a lot like Curt.
Atlas then ran across a picture of himself playing golf wearing cowboy boots near the end of the book. He signed that picture as well. Both him and Harley got a pretty good laugh out of the fact that Atlas was golfing in cowboy boots. It was 10-15 minutes of what was a pretty big thrill for me to have two legends be genuinely interested in what I had brought for them to sign. Both Harley and Atlas are real gentleman. I am glad I got to meet the two of them.

I'm sure he's nice and all, but is Harley Race the kind of guy who you'd be afraid to displease?

Yeah, that's possible. He looked relaxed when I was there.

He didn't say anything other than about what happened to Lex Luger. His wife was telling Tony Atlas what happened.

I hope that your hands weren't taped up!
In all seriousness, glad that you had a good time and got to meet some legends! The only wrestlers I've ever met were Steve Blackman and Ron Simmons at a signing before a house show.

From all the people who have ever made comments after meeting Harley Race I have never heard anyting but reports saying he was on the the nicest people they ever met. having siad that I am quite shure that if he wanted to even at his age Harley could beat the hell out of 99.9% of the posters on this board, I would not be the one to disrespect him.
