So now that the title is vacant, what should the UFC do next? I know I'd love to see a tournament open to all the heavyweights. They could spread it out over a few PPV's, I suppose. I'd much rather have it a one night shot, like the original UFC tournaments. I'd pay to see a special PPV like that. The upside is the novelty and uncertainty of it, as well as the added interest in seeing who wins quick easy victories and who uses up valuable energy in the early rounds. The downside is the potentially sloppy and passive main event between two already tired and beat up guys. Also, you wouldn't have time for any fights from lower weight classes, so a lot of fan favorites are left out.
Other options?
I guess they could just have the next two contenders battle it out, but that feels cheap.
Or they could HHH it and hand it over to someone (either the #1 contender or Tim Silvia as the last one to hold it). I'm pretty sure that would just piss everyone off, so unless they want to start creating heels and faces, that's out.
Maybe this calls for something unprecedented. They could put all the heavyweights in there at once and have a battle royal. You could have them try to throw each other out over the top of the cage, or just have regular KO/submission finishes. That would be disgusting!
How about hanging the belt above the octagon and having a ladder match or Ultimate X?
What do you all think?

This is easy. You hire the hottest chick on earth and teach her how to drive a dump truck. Then you fill the dump truck up with money, have hot girl wear the UFC belt and nothing else and then instruct her to drive the dump truck over to Fedor's house. Problem Solved.

They won't do another One-night tournament, the Athletic Commission put the kabosh on that.  Really though, they should have a mini-tournament with the 4 best HWs they have. |

Like BTY said, as long as Sylvia dont get it, Im happy. He has got to be the most boring fighter Ive seen. Like Couture said, he fights more not to lose it seems then he does to win.

I hate Sylvia but he does deserve a shot at the title. I think Andrei Arlovski should get a chance to be champ too, also you have Gonzaga and Kongo. A tournament would be cool. I'd like to see Brock Lesnar as champ but he still has a long way to go.

My thoery
Match 1: Arlovski is not looking to hot latley, and crocop just came off a loss. this could be the shot shot in the arm for either of them, i mean, this is the time when cro cop and arlovski should be licking there chops hoping to get something going here. and whoever wins this match could really benefit
Match 2: as much as I don't believe it, two of the best heavyweights going. i mean i know sylvia sucks. but this match could be the match we've been waiting for with Big Nog just humbling this f***er.
Match 3: two guys that just came off a loss. Gonzaga has proven he can hang with the heavyweights, he just needs another fight to get him back. Vera came off looking weak against sylvia, but a win over a former number 1 contender, who knocked out mirko crocop could be what he needs.
Match 4: even though brock may not be a "top 10" fighter. hes a name. and at this point with randy gone, they're gonna want a name. and brock facing a guy who stood with beat mirko crocop is a good oppenant. i mean its not an oppenant i want him right now. because chiek kongo(as much as i hate him) is a dangerous fighter.

A tourney. I guess I'm spoiled by the excitement of wrestling buildups.
Don't get me wrong, I love MMA, but certain things aren't possible that they can pull off in wrestling, build up and feud wise.
