The year isn't over yet, and if Serra beats Hughes in December he could definitely add his name to this list, but so far who do you guys think has had the best year in 2007?
* Forrest Griffin pulled off a huge upset against Shogun who many people had ranked as the #1 205lb fighter in the world. He also defeated Hector Ramirez.
* Anderson Silva successfully defended his title twice against Nathan Marquart and Rich Franklin as well as defeated Travis Lutter.
* Randy Couture returned to the UFC in the Heavyweight Division and defeated both Tim Sylvia to become Heavyweight Champion and then successfully defended the title against Gabriel Gonzaga.
* Quinton Jackson debuted in UFC defeating Marvin Eastman and then went on to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Title by beating Chuck Liddell as well as unify that belt with the PRIDE Middleweight Title after beating Dan Henderson.
My vote goes to Rampage. He had the toughest opponents out of anybody on this list. Randy Couture in my opinion would be a close second, but I don't consider Tim Sylvia or Gabriel Gonzaga as being in the same league pound for pound as guys like Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson.

Have to say Rampage, even if all he really accomplished was getting talked about. He was all over ESPN the next day.

It should go to Randy Couture really nobody else besides Rampage comes close.
Upset of the year is Forest over Shogun.
I love Forest

Couture returning at 45 and beating the heavyweight champ for 5 rounds straight is amazing.

its hard to pick an overall #1
in terms of amazing performances, randy couture hands down. in terms of popularity, rampage jackson in terms of coming from obscurity and now being recognized, anderson silva
but i picked anderson cause of the dancing. rampage has been rampage and randy, well i haven't seen him dance yet.

Forrest. He had one of the biggest upsets of the year. Everyone had him marked as the loser in his Shogun fight and what happens? He beats his ass!
That being said, how come Serra isn't on here? He was THE BIGGEST UNDERDOG IN UFC HISTORY and won. I think that makes him Fighter of the year in my book.

Randy Couture. He's old enough that he should NOT be a HW champion, he not only dominated the then-champion, he came out of retirement to do it!
...and exposed the two-dimensional UFC HW division, but hey....
