The human suplex machine was the best....he was a beast. Was there any type of suplex the man couldn't do?

I think you can make a good case for Mastao Tanaka since it literally became a World Titile when he won it. Or for Terry Funk as he embodied smart booking, which ECW did so well.
But, at the end of the day I associate ECW with people getting their heads smashed in. So I'm going with Taz.

Somehow I never realized Raven only had one reign, that seems weird to me. But I don't know, yeah, gotta go with him. It was gonna be him or Taz. Raven won the ECW title twice. see i THOUGHT so but then he was only on the poll once while other guys were twice argh whatever

Douglas seemed to embody the style of ECW the most to me, he could wrestle well and he could talk trash with the best of them, as opposed to being 1 of the 2. That's not a jab at any of the other wrestlers though

I don't count the WWECW version, otherwise I'd vote Van Dam. For my money, the best World Champions ECW ever had were Raven and Taz.

I really enjoyed Taz's run as Champ, and I think he went out the right way. He also came back to help out the company in an unprecedented way when they really needed to get the belt off Awesome. But some of his matches as champ still find their way into my DVD/VCR player pretty frequently.

Sabu, because he pretty much changed Pro-Wrestling in North America.

Someone correct me If I'm wrong here, I'm going off of memory. Raven won the title early 96 from the sandman. He went to rehab mid 96 or so and stevie richards lost the title back to the sandman at ultimate jeopardy. Then raven came back, and won the title in the barbed wire match with the sandman, and then lost it at barely legal.

Like others have mentioned, Shane Douglas made the title what it was, and Raven took it to the next level as one of the best heel champions ever.....but since I wasn't watching it regularly until 98-99, Taz will always be my favorite, just since I constantly looked forward to seeing him suplex the crap out of somebody and choke them out every week.
I just wish we could have seen Taz vs. Sid.
