I know said a bunch of times "Matt and Jeff are so wasted in a tag team when they could main event a PPV singles"
Thing is I don't believe they could ever hit that level as singles guys. IN a tag team they just have this superstar aura, and the guys definitely feed off of each other really well in a symbiotic relationship.
Like the Road Warriors, Demolition, Rock 'n Roll Express, and others I can see them as a main event strictly as a tag team.
Does anybody see problems with this
As I think guys who can do better in tag teams, should be in tag teams as opposed to "getting buried and floundering in singles"

I've always thought like that about most teams, MNM is another one.

Briscoes. I'm well aware that the two are good singles wrestlers, but I don't think one is going to end up doing better than the other.

That's just the thing though.
There aren't nearly enough Main Event Tag Team matches in WWE.

Hmm, well, how about Edge? Member of a main event tag team and certainly a main event singles wrestler. I wonder what people prefer: Edge in E&C or Edge, the Rated "R" Superstar?

The problem is often in getting a strong enough tag division. It's not unusual to have a main-event level tag team - the Briscoes, Styles & Daniels, MNM, the Hardys - the problem is building up a division for that team to fight. The Hardys, Edge & Christian, and the Dudleys suffered from the fact that no other team in the WWF at the time was even in their league. Sure, Too Cool was over enough for a token reign, with the Radicalz and the APA being suitable challengers, but it was all about those three...and their biggest matches coincided with even more important matches.
ROH seems to have the right idea at the moment, with the Tag belts being defended as high on the card as the World belt...but it's still tough because it's hard to build up teams to the Briscoes' level.

The problem is neither TNA nor WWE hold any interest in having regular tag teams as main event talent, and I suspect talent are largely conditioned to think largely of a long term singles career.
Truth be told a lot of talents would be better off if they were part of a tag team for an early part of their careers. HBK, Booker T, Edge, Christian, Scott Steiner, and others all benefited from being part of a team, and developing naturally as performers.
