As Maivia or Flex Kavana, they would of eaten him alive.
As Rock? sure, they'd probably buy into him, if he was like Corporate Rock. He threw a vicious chairshot.

As the most hated heel in the company? Very likely.

The Rock could get over anywhere. He's in very elite company in terms of working a crowd.

As the most hated heel in the company? Very likely. No doubt, and he'd have great matches with most of the roster.

I once posted a question in the ROH forums about how they felt about the Rock, and (much to my surprise) a majority of the responses were positive. As the most hated heel in the company? Very likely. No doubt, and he'd have great matches with most of the roster. And I would've loved every damn bit of it. Super cocky, Hollywood-esque heel Rock ruled.

That proves the point I stress about working a crowd (within the body of the match) being every wrestler's #1 priority. Then comes the style.

I could really see him in ECW during the early Corporation days. He would fit right in. Later on during his more popular decade he would also get a great reaction, though I think the fans would turn on him sooner after and he'd be forced to go heel again.

As the Rock I have no doubt he would have been over in ECW as the top heel. You could actually see guys in ECW and WCW trying to pull off the same kind of jackass heel persona that Rock was doing as the corporate champ i.e. Simon Diamond, Juventud Guerrera(although nobody really cared what the Juice was cookin)

Actually I didn't, I just took a sign to the Melbourne Thunder taping that read "FINALLY...THE JUICE HAS GONE BACK TO PRISON!" But I was trumped by what is still my fave sign to this day: "I SAW JUVI'S JUICE ON TV!" Yes, Juvi's naked ass was all over TV here after his arrest. I also remember A Current Affair here did a special on the WCW guys touring here which featured Steiner (w/Midajah) yelling "GET THE F***OUTTA MY FACE!" to the ACA cameras and an interview with Kevin Nash claiming that he was 6ft10 and not the 7ft1 that WCW claimed him to be...ooh kayfabe is dead! Hell, Regal did a semi-shoot interview here when he sent to Australia to plug Global Warning in which he claimed to potato opponents in the ring and was disappointed if they didn't reciprocate (or something along those lines)

What sucked about WCW then was that almost every single match on the card had someone doing a Urinagi suplex (Rock Bottom....mind you so were the TV ratings)

If the Rock had gone to ECW after already getting fame in WWE, the ECW crowd would have booed him on principle because they would have saw him as a prima donna type. Even if the boos weren't justified, I think they would have booed him and wanted Taz to choke him out.
On the other hand if Dwayne Johnson had gone to ECW before WWE and basically built a Rock-like persona within ECW itself, he would have been hugely over.

ECW may've gotten a reputation for hard to please fans in the beginning but after WCW and WWF became popular and awesome to watch, they became marks again. They popped for guys like Sid after all
