I think it's pretty much established that Tomko's become something of a beloved figure here in Wrestlecrap's forums...
Which is odd, seeing as when he debuted as the Problem Solver, he was seen as just another botchy hoss.
So, out of curiousity, what was the defining moment when the IWC threw their hands in the air and said "Alright, the guy's improved. Let's give him his props."?
To me, it would be Slammiversary 2007, the match he had with Abyss. That was the difference between "How dare TNA hire a WWE castoff" and "Holy crap, Tomko's gotten better!"
But I'm sure you may have noticed a few better examples. Just want to hear your thoughts.

That match with Abyss really snagged my attention, and since he's been absolutely tremendous. One of the few WWE castoffs that I think the company made a good move in securing.

I think the Tomko love is legit here. Not like the tounge-in-cheek love for guys like Snitsky, or BDV. Tomko is a good worker, for what he is. His moveset is right, and he moves pretty quick. Not to mention, he has the look of a complete badass, and has not been bad in promos, and vignettes at all thus far in TNA.

I've honestly always been a pretty big mark for the guy from the time he debuted. Something about him appeals to me for some reason.

When he started in TNA. He made the right move by going to Japan after he was released.

Was the Slammiversary match the one with the cardboard box spot? that really ruined the match.
I think hes perfect as the straight guy in the christian colalition and his tag team with aj reminds me of the team of Nelson muntz and Martin prince when they had to find the lemon tree in shelbyville

I liked the guy back in his WWE days. I was disappointed that they didn't do more with him over there, but I'm glad TNA has picked up the ball and ran with it with the guy.

Since day 1 when he was the problem solver in WWE that really never solved too many problems.

Tomko very slowly got over. It's funny. There was zero reaction from the crowd when he debuted.
Gradually he started get more and more reactions from crowds until one day I just kind of realized, "Holy crap! Tomko is over!"
At the TNA house show in Syracuse there were a lot of Tomko shirts being sold and worn. My friend has one.

About the time he start the "Concussion Boot" angle, taking out 2 or 3 jobbers at a time was when I took notice to the "Problem Solver."
I'm very happy to see his success in Japan and TNA.

i enjoyed him as the problem solver in the wwe, but that could easily have been influenced by putting him with christian. ring work wasn't as good back then but i was such a christian mark i marked for tomko by proxy. after he showed up in tna however he has shown much improvement and i like tomko for tomko. he has to be one of the funniest straight men in the business today.

I marked for the guy from the "Gimmie A Beat" deal to the epic tag team of SnitsKo. But Tomko has been pretty damn good in TNA. I haven't seen his Japan stuff but so far in TNA he's been great in my eyes.

I always thought he had a good look, but he got better in Japan. His team with Bernard is pretty damn awesome.
