The main event for UFC 80 on January 19th in Newcastle has been announced - BJ Penn will face Joe Stevenson for the interim UFC Lightweight title. The idea is that the winner faces Sean Sherk for the Lightweight title, but if Sherk is stripped of the title due to his positive test, then this match will be for the real Lightweight title.
Gabriel Gonzaga versus Fabricio Werdum may also happen at that show.

WHAT?! What has Stevenson done that's worthy of a title shot, interim or otherwise?!
Yeah, he beat Yves Edwards. Josh Neer beat him though. Come on, there HAS to be someone more worthy of the shot....

In other UFC news Dana and the Feritttia brothers are going to offer him a fight with Nogeriua(sp) this week.

Never seen Stevenson fight (not that I can remember anyway) but I know Penns a badass....long as the fight dont go past the 2nd round.
And the only fight Ive seen of Werdum was the bore-fest with the Pitbull, so I dont have a high opinion of him.
