OK. This would have happened at the end of '99 and first half of 2000. I recall a storyline involving Lex Luger breaking alot of guys' arms with a folding chair. He would put the guy's arm in a chair and then stomp on it. It ended up with quite a few guys wearing casts, including Sting and Hulk Hogan. The whole storyline culminated with a Lumberjack match between Luger and either Sting or Hogan. I'm pretty certain it was Sting. Anyway, every one of the lumberjacks wore a cast and that was the gimmick for the match. Can anyone provide any more info on any of this?

I don't fecall that.I do recall when Kuger was in WWE he was knocking his opponents out with the steel thing built in to his arm which was deemd lga; as it was a part of his body.

I found out by doing a little more research that Luger "broke" Sting's arm at Starrcade 1999. According to Wikipedia, the lumberjacks in the match, all wearing casts, were: Curt Hennig, Doug Dillinger, Fit Finlay, Brian Knobbs, Vampiro, Ron Harris, Don Harris, Stevie Ray, Big T, and Hugh Morrus. I'd still like some more info on the in-between time if anyone can remember. Like, who else's arms did Luger break? I'm assuming that Doug Dillinger was one of them since he was a lumberjack. |

Off topic but why did Sting turn heel at fall brawl, I remember about lex having a photo proving the driver of the hummer or something After Hogan turned face he and Sting started working together occasionally. Well Sting's best friend Lex was turning heel, so he comes out and announces that he's going to prove to Sting that Hogan is still evil and can't be trusted. He pulls out a picture and it's Hogan, in full nWo Hollywood clothes (he had gone back to red and yellow at this point)stepping out from a white hummer. Luger goes, "That's right Sting, the guy who ran over Kevin Nash last year in the infamous white hummer was Hogan!" Hogan denied the whole thing saying everybody knows he's driven a white hummer before, so what? Anyway they were building to a ppv title match between Sting and Hogan, and they were trying to build suspense like, " Will this be a face vs. face match between two honorable men? Or will Hogan turn heel again?' And of course it was all a swerve, STING turned heel, using the bat against Hogan to win and leaving with Lex. And nobody booed him. He attacked Hogan, Flair, all sorts of beloved babyfaces, and the fans still cheered him. It didn't matter what he did, WCW weren't going to boo Sting, ever. EPILOGUE: MUCH later, they revealed in passing that Eric Biscoff was driving the white hummer that ran over Nash. They totally ignored the clue they gave at the time that the driver was a woman. |

Mad props on the recall! I remember the Sting heel turn.... I'd honestly have to say it was one of the worst attempts at a turn in modern day wrestling. I like how WCW thought him beating up Hogan would make him a bad guy in the fans' eyes. Hell, I was ready to carve his face up on Mount Rushmore! That Hummer storyline was a nightmare. God, just thinking about it makes me hurt. |

It was explicitly mentioned by the announcers that Bischoff must have been the hummer driver all along, and in the next few weeks the hummer was used against various Millionaire's Club members. It was just a way to blow off a dangling plot thread from nearly a year before.
Not sure why they didn't just say it was Sid all along, but they were adamant about stringing the audience along for a big reveal. I remember they wanted to bring in Carmen Electra (hence the "woman" clue), but that fell through.

A wrestler should turn heel when they are not getting a good crowd reaction, selling merchandise or whatever as a babyface. WCW seemed to use ass backward logic, if a babyface was ridiculously over, selling merchandise and getting chants, THAT'S when they wanted to turn him heel to be 'shocking.' Same thing they did with Goldberg. If what you are doing with a guy is working, then don't change it. Period. |
