REPORT: PACMAN JONES WON'T RETURN TO NFL IN 2007, JONES 'MAKING IT RAIN' IN TNA MAY BE FACTOR IN LEAGUE DECISION
by Mike Johnson @ 3:51:16 PM on 11/4/2007
FOX Sports is reporting that NFL star and former TNA Tag Team champion Adam "Pacman" Jones will not be reinstated from his National Football League exile early after meeting with League commissionerRoger Goodell this past Friday in New York hoping to shorten the one year suspension that was handed down in the wake of a number of incidents.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that Jones will not be reinstated early because his legal issues stemming from numerous incidents, including the well-known Las Vegas shooting that left former pro wrestler Thomas Urbanski paralyzed, have not been resolved.
Glazer also reported that Jones "making it rain" during a "recent wrestling appearance", playing off the Las Vegas shooting following similar antics in a strip club, "doesn't sound like something that would exactly be endearing to the league office."
Jones played off the "making it rain" incident several times towards the end of his TNA tenure, including his final appearance at the Atlanta, Georgia Bound for Glory PPV. Jones, who wasn't allowed to compete inside the ring at the PPV, worked ringside as Ron Killings and Consequences Creed lost the TNA Tag straps to AJ Styles and Tomko. During the bout, he tossed dollar bills into the air while referee Earl Hebner scampered to grab them off the mat. Announcer Mike Tenay remarked that Hebner looked like a "dancer in a strip club." The entire "making it rain" scenario was considered one of the lowlights of the entire TNA flagship PPV.
Urbanski, who wrestled in the Northeast in the 1980s, has filed a civil lawsuit against Jones, The Tennessee Titans, and the National Football League over the incident. Urbanski was working at the club to help pay for his wife's law school and had arrived shortly after Jones and his entourage left the scene. The shooting took place shortly after their departure, although Jones has maintained he had no involvement.
TNA currently has no plans to bring Jones back into the company.
