They did make a few appearances at MSG, Philly and other places. I heard their behavior got them in trouble and that's why their tenure was short.

Also depending on who you ask, the story is they left because the WWF wanted to split them up into singles wrestlers

They were in and out so quick which was a shame. But the WWF was gonna have Dave Wolff, Cyndi Laupers manager, manage them and I think that would have suuuuucked. If they could have just been brought in as The Freebirds everyone knew it would have been so much cooler. But who would they have feuded with? The WWF didn't have a established group of guys that were a team beyond two guys. The Freebirds needed someone like the Von Erichs cause there were a bunch of them and it was easy to switch things up and whatnot.
And what a cool promo that was too by the way. Hayes was so far ahead of his time. Gordy one of the toughest guys ever. And Buddy Jack Roberts is so freaking awesome. He is one of my favorite workers ever.

They were there long enough to have their names mentioned in an early edition of WWF Magazine.

If they had Dave Wolff as a manager, it seems they'd be going the route of being a rock n roll team of sorts, this predates Badstreet by a few months though. I dunno, this might have worked, but it wouldn't have been quite as cool as their stints in World Class and the NWA

Surprised Hayes let anyone get a word in edgewise. Well, considering Gordy and Roberts stumbled all over their lines, Hayes doing the promo is not a bad thing. Roberts is also significantly smaller than the other two. That's probably the reason why I can never seem to remember him. Jimmy Garvin comes to mind more easily as a Freebird.
