RVD Question

On the wrestling radio show I listen to, whenever anyone asks about RVD in Japan, they talk about how he probably wouldn't go because he hates Japan, his time there, and can't stand the culture.

1. Did anything happen in Japan that made him hate his time there so far?

or

2. If it was simply a dislike of the culture, anyone else surprised that he isn't one of those American nerds who's obsessed Japanese culture like you'd find in most Comic/animation/Wrestling/Martial Arts fans?

I read once that it was a combination of things, namely the Japanese way of structuring a match not suiting his spotty nature and him getting heat as a result of not adjusting, and also the fact that marajuana use is highly frowned upon and heavily punished in Japan.
