TWO MATCHES ADDED TO FSM AUTUMN TOUR; EATON OFF 10/5
For OCTOBER 5th...
Unfortunately, due to professional issues completely out of Fight Sports Midwest's control, "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton will not be competing at the October 5th Underground Championship Wrestling card in Bourbon, Indiana, where he was set to face Threat Level Midnight's Trik Davis. However, a match has been booked that hopefully will more than deliver in its place...
Davis and Billy Roc, collectively Threat Level Midnight, have proven themselves as a formidable team during the first two FSM events, picking up a victory in a big four-way tag team match at Chapter Two. They have meshed very well together, as both combine the Mexican lucha libre style with elements of the British Lancashire style mixed in. The two have formed a bond that has caused them to be looking for competition outside of FSM during its hiatus, unfortunately finding none. However, with the Eaton cancellation, it opens an opportunity for Threat Level Midnight to get back into the game, looking for top competition to face them. Bourbon, Indiana will be the location, as Threat Level Midnight begins a potential climb to the top of Fight Sports Midwest!
However, the journey will not start easy, as FSM has convinced a pair of top grapplers to sign on the dotted line to face them on October 5th. They come in the form of "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon and "The Trendsetter" Josh Abercrombie, the only two men to go 2-0 during FSM's first two chapters earlier this year. They even teamed up together in an impromptu bout at Chapter One, facing an established team in Doin' It For Her (Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black), defeating them after unmasking Jacobs, who was in the S.A.M. The Fight Sports Monkey costume at the time. After the bout, the dastardly duo took out Jacobs' knee with a rough attack, not helping Jacobs' previously-established injury. Black has vowed revenge for his friend's pain, but that is not an issue for this time. At Chapter Two, Cannon and Abercrombie defeated two top national stars in former WWE Tag Team Champion Joey Mercury and Human Tornado respectively, cementing their spots as top competitors in FSM.
When FSM officials approached Cannon and Abercrombie about taking this tag team bout, they seemed reluctant, though interested. They had one stipulation to be added if FSM wanted their involvement in the match. Abercrombie and Cannon pointed out that, though they have a strong bound and are willing to help out one another when in need, they are singles wrestlers first and foremost. A straight-up tag team bout against Threat Level Midnight, no matter how good they might be apart, would prove to put the hated duo at an unfair handicap. They wanted an elimination rule put into effect for the bout, where after a decision, the wrestler who loses the fall will be sent back to the locker room as his team will be at a two-on-one disadvantage. From that point on, either the single wrestler on that team could lose the bout for his team by being beat himself, or eliminate a wrestler from the other team to even the odds. The final wrestler or team left remaining would win the bout. According to both Cannon and Abercrombie, this style of match is more favorable to singles competitors, as they can isolate one opponent and not have to worry about facing more than one man at a time if they carry out their strategy to perfection, which they claimed they would. The re-written contract was sent to both Davis and Roc, who signed it immediately, desperate for competition.
Therefore, on Friday, October 5th in Bourbon, Indiana at the Underground Championship Wrestling event, Fight Sports Midwest will bring to you an exciting tag team elimination bout, as Threat Level Midnight will face "The Trendsetter" Josh Abercrombie and "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon!
For NOVEMBER 18th...
After months and months of endless obstacles, whether it be financial issues, unfortunate family incidents, or mysterious legal happenings, the wait is over! The confirmed date for the long-awaited Bryan Alvarez/"Sweet 'n' Sour" Larry Sweeney rematch for the ICWICWA Texarkana Television Championship bout CAN be revealed!
The story has been told and seen numerous times of the controverisal double-pin ending to the first Alvarez/Sweeney bout, as referees Bryce Remsberg and Buddy Lee Brooks' decisions conflicted with one another's, keeping the belt around the waist of Sweeney and his $7500 back to Redondo Beach. Since then, Alvarez has vowed revenge, as this whole issue has turned into a nasty affair that Alvarez needs out of his life. After months of stalling by Sweeney, battles between FSM and his legal council, and other matters, an update was to be sent out via YouTube to fans by ICWICWA Commissioner The Patriot, announcing that a match had finally been agreed to for a future date with the winner receiving a brand new championship belt. Sweeney, the troublemaker that he is, made an unplanned cameo in the video and ran off into the night, cackling with the stolen belt.
Since then, The Patriot has put the signing of this special rematch on the top of his priority list. Fight Sports Midwest and the ICWICWA had signed a contract long ago for FSM to get exclusive co-governing rights for this bout, but to go along with the FSM Autumn Tour, the match needed a location to take place. Along with FSM officials, Patriot has had meetings with countless promoters from across the country who have all put in bids to host this important bout. All of the promotions gave tremendous offers to get the bout in their home turf, but after careful consideration and a double-secret extra-confidential meeting this past week between FSM promoter Michael Blanton, The Patriot, and the esteemed CHIKARA Director of Fun Leonard F. Chikarason, it has been decided that CHIKARA will be the host promotion for what promises to be a heated battle!
After winning the bidding war, CHIKARA finalized the contracts and added that they would allow the championship match to take place on its grandest stage at the New Alhambra Arena in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!
To summarize: Bryan Alvarez is coming to Philadelphia to get what he thinks is rightfully his, as he will face ICWICWA Texarkana Television Champion "Sweet 'n' Sour" Larry Sweeney for the championship at the New Alhambra Arena in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, November 18th, during CHIKARA's "Chapter 11" supercard!
ALREADY ANNOUNCED FOR OCTOBER 13th...
SHIMMER has given Fight Sports Midwest the opportunity to host a bout for the FSM Autumn Tour during the SPARKLE pre-show at its October 13th DVD taping. SPARKLE pre-shows give male wrestlers the opportunity to prove their abilities in front of SHIMMER's audience before the DVD tapings begin. Already signed for the bout, in what is his most high-profile independent match to date since leaving World Wrestling Entertainment, "The Con Man" Rob Conway will be in competition, hoping to make an impression on not only FSM officials, but also the fans of the Chicagoland region and promoters of the National Wrestling Alliance, of which FSM is a member. Conway's opponent has not been confirmed just yet, but will be announced very soon.
Remember: all matches on the FSM Autumn Tour are being taped for a special compilation DVD set to be released by our friends at Smart Mark Video, who you can find for all of your independent wrestling DVD needs at
