Just got back from the Super 8 tournament and here are the results:
Round 1:
Rob Eckos defeated Billy Bax via rollup
Matt Logan defeated Rob Conway via rollup
Jerry Lynn defeated Brian Fury after the Cradle Piledriver
Sonjay Dutt defeated Human Tornado via tap out to the Camel Clutch
Semi Finals:
Sonjay Dutt defeated Rob Eckos after a 450 splash
Jerry Lynn defeated Matt Logan after the Cradle Piledriver
Finals:
Jerry Lynn defeated Sonjay Dutt after a Tombstone Cradle Piledriver to win the 2007 Super 8 Tournament
Overall I thought it was a great show, especially the semi finals and finals. Matt Logan and Rob Eckos impressed me, Sonjay was flying all over the place all night, and Jerry Lynn was awesome as usual. Human Tornado is hilarious! He got a standing ovation after losing to Dutt in the most entertaining 1st round match.

No he didn't do the whole guru thing thank god, but I think the reason he didn't do it is the night is about wrestling not gimmicks kinda like how Psychosis wore his mask in 2004

Also from looking at past years' DVDs, this seems like quite the event. I mean I knew it existed and such, just never really looked into it. |

The Super 8 never ceases to amaze me, even though I have to admit, this year's field seemed a little weak just based on the fields from the past. All that aside, congratulations to Jerry Lynn for taking home the trophy this year. The Super 8 is definately, outside of ROH's big events, one of the top indy events of the year.
By the way, anyone know if the sell Super 8 T-Shirts on the internet. I always like those shirts.

Yeah I really thought it was Eckos night Me, too, I figured this is what was gonna be the breakout night for either Eckos and Bax. Then again, it's not always the winner that breaks out of the pack. Look at Austin Aries in 04 and Shelley in 05, so we'll see. |

Sonjay over Tornado is crap. Tornado should have won the whole thing. Congrats to Jerry Lynn anyways. Yeah, I was surprised that Tornado didn't at least make it to the finals, but his match with Dutt was the best 1st round match. I'll give Dutt credit though, I didn't realize he was that good. Everything he did in the 3 matches were spot on. His 450 splashes he did to Eckos to win the semi final match and again in the finals were beautiful. |

I expected a young guy to win it last night by beating Lynn in the finals to get the rub, so to speak. Many times winning the Super 8 has launched a young career, such as Paul London in 2003 and Davey Richards last year, but established guys have won it too. Look at Christopher Daniels, he won it for the 2nd time in 2004 after he was a well established name on the indy scene. I don't have a problem with Lynn winning it though, it was kind of a thank you for putting in 20 years in pro wrestling. |

HT, Eckos, or Bax in the finals vs. Lynn would have immediately established any of those guys, regardless of who won. |
