I didn't watch, but I'm reading PbP. I wouldn't doubt that the fight was rigged, but I want to see it before I say that it was.

eh, I'm still on the fence after watching it a couple of times.
It didn't look like Kimbo hit him that hard, except for that elbow, but it may have been Cantrell being more like "Crap! I'm on my stomach against a crazy man and I can't protect myself! I want to walk out of here on my own tonight. I'll just tap now".

i've said it once and i'll say it again. kimbo is a crapty fighter and is a piece of crap. stick to the back yard fights, lame ass so i figured out that the guy's voice in those videos is that dude from milfhunter and other bangbro stuff upon looking at the fight the guy takes 2 big hits, falls, then kimbo jumps on top that could have been horrible for the guy if he didn't tap out, the ref also looked like he was going to jump in |

I wouldn't be shocked by the revelation that it was fixed, honestly. A guy who his start is street fighting is bound to be wound up with a whole slew of shady characters. Just the sort who would fix a fight, to try and protect their investment and try and build this guy as a phenomenon -- which I really don't think he is.
If Bob Sapp can legitimately be whooped by a guy seemingly half his size, and three quarter his weight, I really don't see how Slice can be considered a serious threat to any properly trained heavyweight. There's a reason he's not in the UFC, for one, or any of the major Japanese promotions. He's just not good enough, and no legitimate company would, I would think, want to get involved with that kind of baggage, to say nothing of his reputation.

Whether the fight was rigged or not, I can't say. I'd like to think it wasn't.
But for anyone saying Kimbo could never be a legitimate threat, and there's a reason he's not in any major promotion, cut the guy some slack, for god's sake. He just started his career. This was his first sanctioned MMA fight. You don't get signed to the big leagues with no fights to your name, unless your special case like BJ Penn or Lesnar. Not one current champion in the UFC started their career in the UFC (unless you count Couture, but he resigned, so it's a mute point).
I'm not saying Kimbo is next big thing, don't get me wrong. But at least the man a chance to prove himself.
Plus, he's being trained by Bas Rutten, so he's in good hands.

Wow that as a crappy fight. What ever happened to Kimbo vs Tank? Anyone know? I thought the promotion that was supposed to be holding it had to cancel the event and then there were rumours of another promotion picking up the bout. But they never materialized...for whatever reasons. |
