I'm not afraid to say it, I just watched the 4th anniversary show, and I've officially decided, Evans is one of my favorites. After the bumps I've seen that guy make, I don't think the guy has bones, rather a gelatinous material much like what you'd find on the inside of a Stretch Armstrong after pulling his arms out too far.
But I've noticed here and on the ROH boards that Jack isn't the most popular of guys. I think I've been the boards long enough to start this question, why? What are your thoughts, like him, don't like him?

He used to have really poor basics, but since he's been going to Japan he's gotten really good

I like Evans for what he is. He is a perfect tag team wrestler with a Roddy Strong/Brent Albright type. As a babyface team, he takes a beating, tags in the big guy for a hot tag, comes back in for a big flippy move. As a heel, he can work well too as a guy that is dislikable. However, I have little interest in someone as little as him as a single's wrestler. AmDrag and Spanky, for example, could work as technical wrestlers first and foremost. Evans has in the past needed help to put the match together. So Jack Evans: I like him. Don't love him, don't miss him. But I like him.

I guess I'm just a fan of watching grown men almost die.

Oh I think Jack is awesome. I was a fan of the guy when he was a total spot monkey, but since he's spent an extended period of time in Japan he has really improved his all round game.

Evans isn't someone I'd have as champ, but he's pretty good at what he does.
Man, the dude needs to hit puberty.

He does a few stupid things in the ring that I don't like, but he's a walking spectacle and has enough charisma to make people care. His positives far outweigh his negatives.

While I think Jack is a tremedous talent, it's actually not his ring work that impresses me the most. He has two great qualities in a babyface. He is relatable to. I've seen dozens of people back home who look like Jack Evans, it's ridiculous, and I'm sure a lot of other people have to. He's also that guy who does he cool moves to impress his friends as well.
He also has a trait that a lot of babyfaces don't have that much nowadays. Sympathy. While I don't think he's the best at selling all the time, when he does, the look on his face is so perfect and it seems he's trying so hard to get back up from the onslaught, and it makes people want to cheer him. His matches with Roderick Strong I feel are perfect examples of this, if you watch Evans' face during that match, you'll know what I'm talking about.
I don't see that in a lot of wrestlers. Oddly enough, the only other person I see it in is Kelly Kelly, lol. Like, as rotten as she is, she has a lot of sympathy when she wrestles. If I was to book her, I would make her a Mikey Whipwreck type character, and just have women beat the crap out of her, and have her just sell it, and then Balls Mahoney gives her the courage to be a little braver or whatever. Yeah, I stole the idea from ECW, but oh well. It's been over 10 years, it's past the Cornette rule.
But yeah, I went a bit off topic there, lol.

He's alright, but I find his promos really, really, REALLY annoying, and I think he just gets stuck in the same boring feuds. There's only so much I can care about Evans vs. Strong. He has been a hell of a lot better since his run in Japan, though. I also haven't seen any of the Vulture Squad stuff yet, so we'll see.

Considering I saw Evans almost kill himself with that errant flip off the Cage of Death in CZW, I have to say he definitely takes risks - to the point of serious injuries.
Character-wise, the Eminem/"you got served" backup dancer thing he has going doesn't appeal to me.
I appreciate his athleticism and the beatings he takes but he doesn't seem as a credible threat to anyone.
