I don't like how they treat him or at least the direction they took with him. When he was with James Mitchell, it added an aura to him and allowed Mitchell to cut promos, which almost always get over. But then he was shoehorned into a weird program with Sting where he didn't come out looking great and has gotten to the point with post-match beatdowns and big bumps that they don't mean anything in more

In all fairness to TNA, he was supposed to be in a feud with Messias but his injury put a hold on that. In the meantime, they put him in this feud with Blackdust to kill some time until Messias comes back.

In the meantime, they put him in this feud with Blackdust to kill some time until Messias comes back. And what a feud that is, with Abyss being too dumb to stand up and walk away to safety as Black Reign slowly tightens a woodworking vice on his head, being afraid of a cuddly pet animal, etc. Yeah, Abyss is pretty much a jackass the way they book him. He's not a wrestler, he's a character in a monster movie. His matches and feuds involve shit like flying caskets and candelabras, and hanging someone from the ceiling by their foot, and barb wire ropes and thumbtacks and glass...he's Super Dave with a mask on.

I agree with most in that I don't like how Abyss seems to be a big crash test dummy, and the fact that he keeps shredding his body with things like tacks and broken glass, which shouldn't be in a wrestling ring in the first place.
But here's a thought for an angle to resurrect 'the monster' in him. The continual beatdowns he receives from these 'dark forces' culminate in driving him to the brink, where he loses all control and goes berserk on a face that happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (Rhyno perhaps, to help him back to the spotlight). He becomes a monster again, and Mitchell revels in the fact that he has once again unleashed the monster.
Abyss, at this point, is easy pickings for Mitchell to exploit, and Abyss realizes (through his warped psyche) that his home is with Mitchell.
Mitchell welcomes him back into the fold, not with open arms so much at the beginning. He handles Abyss again, but makes sure (without the silly abuse, but more of a sinister encouragement) Abyss runs with his anger and revenge until he reaches the point that he truly, in Mitchell's mind, becomes unstoppable. Mitchell then fully endorses Abyss, making him a full-fledged monster.
He feuds with Rhyno, which will help elevate him.
Meanwhile, the likes of Mesias and Crimson Blood (or whatever he's going to be called) remain with Mitchell as occasional allies to Abyss (who will generally not need anyone).
It would be a pretty good faction: Mitchell leading Abyss, Mesias and Blood.
(I refuse to add Black Reign to this mix, as he shouldn't even be in TNA)

Abyss is boring. I hate that stupid gesture he does with his arms. I dont get that either. Its like he wants to be in DX. Also if he can talk now why does he still grunt & roar at the end of his promos?

When it comes down to it you cannot complain about Abyss being misused. He's getting a lot of TV time and a match at nearly every PPV. He's in a decent feud with James Mitchell, Black Reign, Raven, and Red Rum.

If anyone can make Abyss an unstoppable, sadistic monster face, Raven can.

Er, virtually all of Mick Foley's greatest matches involved him jobbing out. Who wins isn't necessarily anything to do with whether something is a good match.

Yeah winning means nothing. Sandman lost like over 50% of his ECW matches and he was SO over. Abyss is over to an extent, but if they get him doing something good and not this JM Stable Feud for six months, he'll get more over.

Abyss truly needs something to make him more than the Kane/Mankind rip off that he has remained in a LOT of people's eyes.
He is actually talented and deserves better.

I agree that winning/losing is not a huge concern.
Just like Mick Foley, just like Kane, he has that mystique of being over even after loss after loss. The guy is just plain over as far as I see.
Why? Because he's big and looks menacing. He takes big, dangerous bumps. Even if he loses, a mark has to review the match every time and think, "Damn, he took a lot to put down."
