This didn't happen recently, but today I learned that ECW alumni John Kronus died in July of this year.
Kronus was one-half of the domineering tag-team "The Eliminators" (with Perry Saturn being the second half).
Kronus also formed a tag-team with New Jack ("The Gangstanators") after Saturn left ECW to wrestle in WCW.
If you're like me, you probably didn't pay much attention when word got out that George B. Caiazzo had died. My excuse is that I never knew that Kronus' real name was George B. Caiazzo.
Without question, 2007 was the worst year in the history of pro wrestling - and I say that solely as a reaction to the number of deaths we've had to mourn, nevermind the fact that WWE still has a monopoly (which sucks), and TNA's booking has gone down the drain.
By the way, did you know that Mike Awesome (who committed suicide in 2007) is Hulk Hogan's cousin? I never would've guessed that, especially since Hogan didn't do a whole lot of politiking to get Awesome booked better when he arrived in WCW.

I think it was more Hogan was Horace's Cousin, and Awesome was Horace's Cousin, but Hogan and Awesome weren't directly related. Which is Why Horace got the spot in NWO with Hogan.

EVERYONE got a spot in the nWo (the nWo's roster expansion is one of the major reasons why it ended up stinking, aside from the fact that it went on for way longer than it should have). But thanks for pointing out that Awesome's relation to Hogan was indirect.

Horace Hogan is Hulk Hogan's nephew and Mike Awesome was Horace's cousin on the other side of the family.

How did you just find out about this? Have you been under a rock? I thought I made that clear in my initial post. Anyway, let me recap: When Kronus died, I didn't see any threads on this board saying "Kronus is dead." What I saw were threads saying "George Caiazzo died," which I skipped over, since I - like many others - have never heard of Kronus being referred to by his real name. I didn't care who George Caiazzo was, and therefore skipped over the news. It would be like if people started threads saying "Mike Alfonso died" instead of "Mike Awesome died" - a lot of people would skip over such threads since Mike Awesome, like John Kronus, is not someone who is typically referred to by his real name.

How did you just find out about this? Have you been under a rock? Or in India?

When Kronus did the 450 later in life, it was actually just a superfly splash. It was called the 450 because that's how much he weighed.

I heard about this on holiday and threw my newspaper in the swimming pool. The bar staff weren't happy with a floating British tabloid tearing up the place.

Kronus and Saturn were my favourite old-ECW team. They were so frigging athletic. Saturn had the better wrestlnig base, while Kronus could do things nobody his size should do. Space Flying Tiger Drops, 450s, standing 450s, tumbleweed legdrops, hurricane reverse elbows. He was very fun to watch indeed. However, I am amazed you only found out about this now.

Call me crazy but I swear that I saw threads that said "John Kronus" instead of his real name.
