If I had to choose....CZW, easily. Better roster, better booking (and that's saying something), better matches (especially when CZW started using GOOD high-flyers and younger guys).

Czw by far.
The indy talent czw had access to (and to an extent still does) puts the roster of xpw to shame. The only thing xpw had going for it was former ecw wrestlers who had grown tired of Heyman or got fired.
xpw always came off as a shitty indy.

CZW had better Cruiserweights and exhibited a better range of talent around the country. XPW had Messiah, Xaos (who was flaky), Angel, Mexico's Most Wanted... and that's about it, except for the ECW alums.
CZW has, IMO, a decent string of regulars and a great assortment of people who made limited runs: Necro Butcher, The Briscoes, Chuck Taylor, Sonjay Dutt, Super Dragon, El Generico, Human Tornado, Chris Hero, Low Ki, Claudio, Punk, Quack, Jimmy Jacobs, etc.

CZW, without a doubt.
XPW was probably one of the worst wrestling promotions of all-time, whereas CZW excels at deathmatches, and pretty much every event (minus the Tournament of Death) features a great assortment of non-deathmatch bouts.
Even if you're not terribly into deathmatches (like me), you can still appreciate the athleticism which CZW's wrestlers put into their deathmatches. It is for that reason that CZW can claim to have the very best deathmatch of all time (Sexxxy Eddy vs The Arsenal at Tournament of Death 3) as well as one of wrestling's best cage matches (Cage of Death 5, although I've heard that Cage of Death 6 compares favourably as well).
Look at CZW's roster, past and present: Necro Butcher & Brain Damage (two of wrestling's best brawlers), "Sick" Nick Mondo, LuFisto, Eddie Kingston, Ruckus, Sexxxy Eddy, JC Bailey, Messiah, John Zandig, Tobey Klein, Danny Havoc, Scotty Vortekz, Drake Younger, "Diehard" Dustin Lee, Nick Gage, Mike Quackenbush , Jack Evans - and that's just to name a few.
XPW may have initially got a lot of ex-ECW alumni, but quality XPW matches are very rare. The best thing to have come out of XPW was The Messiah, and he left for greener pastures in CZW. The only other homegrown XPW wrestler that I can really praise is Angel the Hardcore Homo, who had a dumb gimmick but was pretty good as a high-flyer.

Both sucked ass. I remember buying a CZW DVD once all it was a bunch of overweight wrestlers hitting each other with lightubes.

It is for that reason that CZW can claim to have the very best deathmatch of all time (Sexxxy Eddy vs The Arsenal at Tournament of Death 3) you havnt seen that many deathmatches have you? Actually, yes, I have seen many deathmatches. At the end of the 1990s, I bought a whole bunch of IWA Japan and FMW tapes, as I was on a big Foley / Headhunters / Hayabusa kick at the time. As far as North American deathmatches go, I've seen every CZW Tournament of Death, save for last year's (TOD V), and have various other CZW shows in my collection, like Deja Vu 3 (which features a no rope barbed wire match between Necro Butcher and JC Bailey). That might be the opinion of most people, but in my opinion, it was a stellar match - not just in terms of hard-hitting deathmatch action, but also in terms of technical aspects. That match had something for everyone. To dwell on the end is to neglect an incredible match between the two. Any goon can swing a weapon and get busted open, which is what a lot of XPW's deathmatches boiled down to. In contrast, what Sexxxy Eddy and The Arsenal did that night was exceptionally impressive on every level.

okies mate np. wasnt trying to cause an argument or anything. i agree it was a great match, but i have to rate other matches esp onita v funk, onita v hayabusa & kudo v toyoda higher. tho i will watch the match again tonight, havnt seen it in a while.
come to think of it you should probably check out the more recent bjw stuff 2005 - present. very similar sorta stuff, esp the ito v sasaki trilogy.

CZW wins by a millions of miles. They have perfected death match wrestling, with almost every death match they have had within the last year has been very good. There biggest weakness lately is pushing the wrong people(DJ hyde for example) and bringing in horrible people for the undercard. But over all there is at least 1 or 2 good matches at each show, could we even to think to say that about XPW?

XPW. I can't stand John Zandig while Rob Black brought White Trash Johnny Webb into wrestling.
Oh hell who am I kidding, It's CZW.
