I wasn't there. Let me make that very clear. But my old tag team partner from the indy's was. Tonight in Marion, Piper did one of his spots and then after being paid bolted. He was supposed to do a Pipers Pit. According to my old partner, the Promoter came out crying and had to explain that Piper bolted before finishing. I wasn't there, but if my partner (who i trust with my life) is telling the truth, one of my all time heroes is a piece of crap.

Well, flaking out is pretty common in the indies, and the promoter should of known better than to pay entirely in advance, but it's worth noting that there may of been a misunderstanding, or the promoter could of tried to shortchange Piper so Piper bailed.
Also, there may of been an emergency so he had to go.

I didn't think it was common to give the guy his cash straight up before the show was over... I'm not saying he paid Piper less or anything, he might've just caved in and let Hot Rod walk all over him.
I hate to sound like an ass, but most promoters are marks and most talent (especially a veteran) I'd imagine could smell one from a mile away.
We definitely don't have the full story here so I'm not saying it was right or wrong... but at least he showed up. There's a lot of guys out there who straight up demand half up front and plane tickets and then never show up. Most promoters never bother to get anything written down or phone conversations recorded either, so they're pretty much S.O.L.

You guys are way too harsh on this guy... Imo I think its more that there are two sides to every story(well, actually 3 sides). This is one side, and they're presenting (possible) reasons that could be piper's side.

There very well could have been an emergency, but Piper should have been a professional and let the promoter know about it instead of sneaking out like that.
You guys can mock the promoter all you want, and he deserves some of it, but until Piper's side comes out, he (Piper) looks like a total ass here.

I don't know about this. Piper never been known to walk out on anybody unless something really happened. Before anybody can call Piper anything yet. I'm going to wait and see the full story. All we have is something from a friend of someone who post on the forum.

The guy is one of the least shadiest cats out there. He does a ton of charity work for free. There is rumor of an emergency, so ease up until you know anything.

Ok, I'm hearing two different stories here. In 1, he only did his match, but bailed on doing Piper's Pit. In this one, he did both, but then left before doing his extra stuff(autographs and whatnot) due to what sounds like an emergency.

I hope everything is alright. The flakiness and needing the money up front.... I'm sorry to say, but his behavior suggests Piper is off the wagon.
