Trainers will stiff you, but they will never intentionally break your face open, unless your a complete jabroni. This was a botch.
It looks like she just hit a stiff dropkick too high. I don't think she was aiming for her face, but the other chick is so small it landed high. Just look at the way the instructor handles it afterwards. There is general concern she may have hurt the trainee, but she turns it around to make it seem like a Hard Lesson type of thing so she won't break tough Trainer kayfabe. Especially with cameras filming.

Especially with cameras filming. Especially since she looked to see if it was serious. I'm very impressed with the trainee's attitude. She ddin't lose her temper or anything. It reminds me of Mick Foley when he had his 2nd ever match, up against Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid. Dynamite Kid gave him a jaw injury that lasted, well, it STILL dislocates easily, and caved two teeth in that needed to be root canal'd. Mick immediately after the match went to the Bulldogs and thanked them for the experience. His show of respect helped the other wrestlers accept him as one of the guys. If you show respect, you will recieve respect. Go into the business thinking it owes you a living, and they'll eat you alive.

We know dynamite kid is a sadistic, violent nutcase who probably got a kick out of it. I can buy that Meiko maybe thought she was helping the trainee. Possibly even that Bob Holly thought he was helping out Matt by showing him how real it could turn, but no way do I think dynamite kid was trying to help Foley.

Wait, he was? How come no one gives him crap? Oh, he gets crap often. Honky Tonk Man, among others, despise the man. He was a big influence in the ring, but he always seemed to have something to prove.

He WAS helping Foley, because otherwise they boys would have no reason to respect him. Because he took the beating like a man and showed he was humble, i bet he gained the respect of the locker room. IMO thats more important than anything else.

Using Culture to explain why we shouldn't even question them is lazy excuse, and is a not a true reason because it doesn't explain why they should do this.

I wish more guys would be trained like this to learn respect. I hate this "learn respect" s***, I really do. Wrestling veterans seem to be under the illusion that all rookies are snot-nosed little chavs that have a silver spoon in their mouth and don't give a s*** about wrestling and just want to get on TV. They're not.then you get pricks like Teddy Hart

I saw that, and since pro-wrestling isn't training for war in Sparta, let's refer to little known wrestler, trained by two Japanese gentlemen - Bret Sargeant Hart: (Paraphrased) "Wrestling is an art form. You don't deliberately try to hurt someone. That's not what it is about. The punches look real. The kicks look full contact, but at the end of the day, you go home, no more bumped and bruised than a hockey player" Yeah, but I sometimes think comparing American wrestling to Japanese wrestling kind of misses the point. They might as well be too completely different businesses. See, that's why I pointed out that aside from Stu Hart, Bret's other formal trainers were two Japanese stars, all cultured in the Oriental way of doing things.

I think the basic principle 'learn respect' sounds good enough.
But even then, a lot of that is based in cowardice.
Say Khali developed an ego backstage, you think JBL or Holly would shoot on him? Of course not. Same with Big Show. It's a lot easier to beat up a rookie you know isn't capable of kicking your ass.

That stuff can get pretty bad when youre not liked.
