Lets say for whatever reason in early 2001, WWE, which was doing massive business at the time suddenly got into incredible financial trouble whether it be a pedophilia scandal, rampant steroid abuse, or a comet just happens to hit Titan Towers. Regardless of the hyothetical situation the after effects are so great that WWE is put in the position where WCW can and does buy them in 2001.
What would have happened then? Would Jamie Kellner have killed wrestling altogether and decided to end the victorious WCW anyway? Would the Rock have left for Hollywood sooner or stayed on as 27 time WCW Champion? Would Kai En Tai have a year long reign as WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions?

Kellner would never have killed a successful WCW. WCW "winning" the war with WCW 2000-quality product would mean pro wrestling would get wiped out by MMA in a couple of years.

That definitely seems like a possibility given how popular MMA is today and while not wiping out the WWE surely takes away from its audience. Still, we have to remember that in early 2001, WCW looked to be turning around somewhat. Despite still having admittedly many ridiculous storylines (Mystery partner Road Warrior Animal anyone?)

With WCW alive there would be no TNA and ROH would still have half of it's 2006 roster.
If MMA killed WCW, ROH would be the top company in America.

Which means ROH would probably adopt more "sports entertainment" to fit into mainstream.
WCW would have bought up the popular wrestlers, and fans would have moved over to WCW because there was nothing else at that point, meaning a rating's boost and maybe AOL/Time Warner wouldn't have killed WCW?

Bischoff could have gotten another deal based almost soley on having the NWA/WWF/AWA and ECW video libraries added to his WCW tape library. They'd have gotten another deal. The quality of the shows however would have gotten unequiviquabily better. Although I have a great deal of doubt that Austin and Undertaker would have come over in the deal. Taker hated Eric Bischoff and was the leader of the WWF lockeroom. Austin hated Eric too and would have likely retired rather than deal with the crap that might go down. I also think Taker would take some time off and start a new Fed.

I do also agree that Austin would've gone the route Sting is doing today and would probably never have wrestled in the winning WCW. However, similar to how the WWE buried some of the notable names in WCW, WCW would've likely have done the same. We would be seeing the legends of the WWE today (Foley, Jericho, Guererro) being regulated to cannon fodder to the WCW guys. Being that WCW was also Hogan country, I think their downfall would have gone down faster than the WWE's has done in recent years.
