sorry if this has been brought up before but I never seen this: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tzlhCt0N9FcSo the rockers won the belts but were never awarded the titles? Also what show is this on with michael hayes and todd pettingale?

Wha? Where in that clip did they win the titles? Also, Action Zone was a pre-cursor to Livewire, I believe, in that it aired Sunday mornings.

Even though there's nothing there, savetna, I'm gonna guess that this is from their match with the Hart Foundation in 1990. The top rope broke in the ring, making it pretty messy of a match, leaving the editing team with a helluva chore before it could go to TV. The Rockers defended it against someone or other, but then the bookers decided not to air it and the titles were given back to the Hart Foundation, and the title change was never acknowleged.
It seems like you sure ask for a lot of links and info...perhaps you'd try doing a bit of research on your own? We're usually all pretty good about sharing info and what not, but we're not a lookup service. YouTube and Google work wonders with wrestling info, because a helluva lot of it is documented somewhere out there.

I think the rope break was planned. Jim Neidhart was not under contract at the time, and WWF wasn't sure he'd resign. They used the rope breaking as an excuse to keep the belts on the Harts if Neidhart stayed, which of course he did. If he hadn't resigned, my guess would be they would have ignored the rope break and kept the belts on the Rockers.

^^Why couldn't they let the title changes hands anyway? I mean they didn't know if he was going to stay or not.

Well, I don't think they wanted to take the belts off the Hart Foundation if they didn't have to. Niedhart resigned sortly after the match happened, so they used the rope breaking as a way to give the Harts the titles back, saying that the match shouldn't have continued. They could have just done a quick change back to the Harts in a match I suppose, but since the Rockers never showed up on TV with the belts, maybe they thought it was easier to do it another way.

It is pretty obvious that I've looked into something, not been able to find out exactly and went to ask the opinions and knowledge of people who I respect on the subject. I don't expect people to "do research" for me. I was asking on the basis anyone knew off the top of their heads (which they did). I respect the people on this forum, their views , opinions , input and knowledge on the subject of pro wrestling. I think your comment is perhaps uncalled for. There is no need to bring a guy down when all he's doing is asking a question.

This is rumored to be the birth of the Shawn-Bret misgivings, but it's a lame rumor.

Well, considering I just went to YouTube and searched for "The Rockers vs. the Hart Foundation tag titles" and it came up as the first match, I was lead to believe that maybe you hadn't looked that hard. Either way, differing opinions I guess, but I figure you'll either get over it or die annoyed. For the record, here's the URL of the search: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=The+Rockers+vs.+The+Hart+Foundation+tag+titles&search=Search

This is rumored to be the birth of the Shawn-Bret misgivings, but it's a lame rumor. On The HBK DVD, you can see Shawn throwing a tantrum as he leaves the ring with his new tag title belt. At the very least, he was a whiny little girl back then.

he got pissed because the match sucked, he does this a lot when a spot is blown, or when he feels a match was craptacular.
Yeah it's on the HBK dvd, I wish they could have put a better Hart Foundation/Rockers match without a screwy conclusion on DVD one of these days

Someone's damn near bitten my head off for "not doing the research" before and I was a little taken back by it. Isn't the nature of this thing here for people to come together and share information?

I was in a lousy mood, so my apologies if I came off too mean-spirited. I absolutely agree, acressl, we're hear to share and share alike. I just was a little surprised when I put in the search and it was the first result. I guess I inferred from there that the gentleman in question hadn't done any real looking for the situation. I figured that putting in the match you want with something related like "tag titles" is something that would be pretty natural in a search engine. Oh well.
Anyway...back to the discussion at hand...
Someone mentioned that they wished that a Hart Foundation vs. Rockers match that didn't end in something funky was on DVD. Did the Rockers vs. Hart Foundation ever end cleanly? And if so, with a Rockers victory?
