D'Amore's booking in summer 2005 was some of the best the industry has had in a LONG time.
Unfortunately, some points in 2006, not to mention D'Amore's booking of the X-Division beyond the Joe/Daniels/Styles feud, were VERY flat. No character development, no real desire to see anyone stand out, etc. Remember Senshi's long X-Division title run? I barely do, either.
So I agree; have Russo develop gimmicks/characters (TNA has some very, very good ones now), get D'Amore more involved in the storytelling, and I think it'd be golden. I doubt it'll happen, but at least having both minds available to discuss things with should help matters.

Judging from this thread, there is no positives that Mantel or Jarrett add.

correct me if I am wrong but wasnt D'amore head booker during the fox sports net days? If so he is uncanny because those days were way better then impact ever was or will be.

Judging from this thread, there is no positives that Mantel or Jarrett add. In the original post, I mentioned that Tracy Brooks told me that Dutch Mantell was the reason there is a Knockouts division. So if you hate the women's division, blame Dutch and if you like it, he gets credit along with Scott D'Amore. Jarrett is the overseer. He has final say on what happens no matter who else is booking. Russo, on the other hand, I'm not sure he added any positives. Like I said earlier, when he joined the team, suddenly the matches on impact became 3 minutes long and run-ins increased 500%. It was surreal, because TNA fans used to laugh at WWE for having six minute matches on TV, and suddenly impact consisted of three minute matches. I guess I should add that I'm not positive Russo added no positives to TNA. I wouldn't be surprised if AJ's goofball sidekick character was his idea.

Hey they're longer than 3 minutes! They are 5 with a commercial in the middle! That's what bothers me the most, actually. I honestly have no problem with short matches it's just the commercial in between that kills it all.

Dear sir, I would like to hear your reasoning for this. Not to argue, just to know what you mean a bit more. Thank you in advance. Stong Point: Vince Russo - Obviously, it's his characters. He has the proven ability to created well-rounded, three dimensional characters that the audience actually cares about. He also has a grasp on why certain characters do certain things, and how those actions affect those around them. Scott D'Amore - D'Amore realizes that the climax to every "episode" should happen in a wrestling match. Everything else - promos, comedy bits, Gabe Sapolsky-level plot twists - are all geared to support and generally "build" to said climax. He also has a knack of getting everyone involved without things feeling forced or crowded. Weakness: Vince Russo - When given a chance to helm a storyline, Russo seems to think that he's writing for a community theater, not a wrestling promotion. As awesome as the James Mitchell/Sting pairing is, no one wants to see them go on and on about Abyss' soap opera back story. He also has trouble ditching characters that just don't work, choosing instead to explain their motivations even more. While this does work on occasion (Kaz), more often than not, it makes said character even harder to watch. Black Reign and Sonjay Dutt's "guru" character are perfect examples of this. Scott D'Amore - D'Amore's biggest weakness are his characters. While a few gimmicks that were created during his reign as booker did get over (Paparazzi Productions*), more often than not, his characters usually end up being "X Division wrestler" or "'Phenomenal' talent." He also has trouble "rolling with the punches," shall we say. When Rhino was given the title after Nash's medical scare, D'Amore made sure that Jeff Jarrett got the title back as quickly as possible. The storyline wouldn't have worked if Jarrett didn't have the title. The downside to this was that it made Rhino look insanely weak and made Jarrett appear to be Triple H. (*I know that both Eric Young and LAX got over around this time, but I don't count them as "Scott D'Amore success stories." Young's push came from Dutch Mantel, and I attribute LAX's rise to Konnan.) Working Together - Both Russo and D'Amore have stated that their main goal is to get the viewer wanting to see what happens next. Combining characters the the viewer cares about with a plausible, wrestling-based storyline does just that. The recent success of the women's division proves that this theory works.

But the Knockouts division was an idea of Mantell's and is produced by D'Amore. Russo seems to have very little, or possibly nothing to do with it. As a result, we have long matches, and characters getting and scoring the highest ratings of the program. And Senor, I didn't say impact has three minute matches now. That problem was solved over six months ago. Jarrett insisted tv matches become longer, which they did. And since the change to two hours, matches have become even longer. The run-ins and screwjob finishes are still a problem though.

Also, thanks to Ariata for a well written and organized response to my inquiry.

Seriously, they should've just hired me. Maybe they read your posts and said, "This guy thinks we're worse than WWE! No way we're hiring him!" Then again a person like you with no track record in the industry is better than Russo who helped kill a company that was thriving not that long before he arrived. A lot of people feel that Jarrett has a blind spot for the man simply because they are friends. Still Double J needs to see the facts staring him in the face. Ratings have not really improved in the year Russo's been working there, and the highest rated segments are the ones NOT produced by Vinny Ru.

I thought D'Amore was fantastic when he first began, but as time moved forward his work was getting less and less.
I did not think he needed to be removed, he just need additional help.
