I know history says that this was the beginning of the end for WCW, but that program was a breath of fresh air after months of stagnant booking.

I believe I'm like most Sting fans. If he turns heel, I keep cheering him. Regardless of what he did we still cheered him. Sting has one of the top 5 most loyal fan bases.

the sting heel turn was awesome because of the way the match was built up with sting being asked before it can you trust hogan not to screw you over and it turning out to be sting screwing hogan

I loved it when Sting broke Flair's arm in a chair at Luger's insistence. Given the history between Flair and Sting, I don't think anyone really saw Sting as a heel for it. I loved it, myself.

What was amazing about this is that Sting did everything a heel was supposed to do. He cheated, using the bat to wallop an unsuspecting Hogan to win the belt. He attacked people from behind. The WCW fans simply refused to boo him regardless of what he did. The same thing happened with the Road Warriors in 1988. They turned heel and were hardly boo'ed at all. They eventually turned back face a few months later.
